It was late, but Dylan was still in his office, lying in the shadows of his private space.
He hadn't gone home in days.
Home didn't feel like home anymore. Laura was there. And lately, her presence made the air too heavy to breathe. He preferred the stillness of the office—the loneliness, even. It was better than the emotional chaos waiting for him at the mansion.
He poured himself a drink, but before the glass touched his lips, he heard the soft sound of the glass door sliding open. His body tensed. No one knew about this room.
No one…except her.
He stood immediately, his heart thudding in his chest.
And then he saw her.
Olivia.
She stepped inside, graceful and quiet, wrapped in a coat. She didn't speak. Neither did he. For a long moment, they communicated in silence.
"Olivia…" His voice cracked just slightly. "How did you find me?"
She didn't answer, not with words. She didn't have to.
