The explosions roared nonstop.
The detonation of Explosive Tags lasted for ten minutes, and the sound was so loud that even Konohagakure could hear it. Whether or not it was strong enough didn't matter—the sheer scale was overwhelming.
Ninjas are strange beings. No matter how powerful they are, even if they seem unbeatable, a single blade through the heart can still kill them. They might wield earth-shaking power, but if they overuse their energy, they can die from exhaustion.
Simply put, ninjas are strong—but also fragile.
Konan sat on the ground, completely drained. The chakra she had just recovered was gone again, and her already exhausted body was now pushed to the limit.
But it didn't matter—because Obito was dead. She was certain that her strategy had worked. She was sure he was dead, even though the explosive chakra surge had disrupted her ability to sense him...
Konan gasped for air. Under the sunlight, her eyes were filled with joy. "I..."
"Won?"
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at the kunai piercing through her abdomen. Her dust-covered face was frozen in shock.
She struggled to turn her head, catching a glimpse of the unharmed man behind her. "Impossible... How did you...?"
"Since you asked so nicely, I'll tell you. The Uchiha's ultimate forbidden technique—Izanagi." Obito's voice was deep. "A dojutsu that rewrites reality itself. Only those with both Senju and Uchiha blood can use it."
"Senju...? Uchiha...? That means..." Konan's body trembled, and even her voice was shaking with shock.
"That's right. The power of the Sage of Six Paths." A cold sneer crept into Obito's voice. "Well, as much as I'd love to explain it all to you—since we've been allies for so long—there's a troublesome guy on his way. I don't have time for that."
*Squelch—*
Obito pulled out his kunai, watching as blood spread across the blade. Konan's body collapsed to the ground, powerless.
She had used everything she had to ensure Obito's death. But in the end, she had nothing left to fight back.
Obito crouched in front of her, his Sharingan glowing blood red through his mask. "Asking would be too much trouble, so I'll just make you tell me with genjutsu. Where is the Rinnegan? Tell me."
The crimson glow reflected in Konan's eyes. Blood loss drained her strength, her body growing cold, her consciousness fading.
She didn't remember what she said.
Her last memory was that red, glowing light.
Obito stood up, his Sharingan spinning slightly.
"So that's where it is," he muttered.
Without sparing a glance at the unconscious Konan, he quickly formed a hand seal. A stream of fire erupted from his mouth, scorching the ground. As the flames consumed the white paper scattered around, the hidden corpse of Nagato was revealed beneath the earth.
Obito let out a quiet sigh of relief. "What a hassle."
He reached out and picked up Nagato's body, but as if sensing something, he turned his head toward the sky. Beneath the bright, open sky, the purple demon god stood out sharply.
Obito let out a mocking laugh. "Too bad, you're late again."
A black Uzumaki figure suddenly appeared. Although moving himself took time, he could still manage to escape before Sasuke arrived.
There's no way you can teleport this far instantly, right?
Just as Obito was thinking that, the massive demon god in the sky suddenly vanished. In a flash of purple light, Sasuke's figure appeared right in front of him.
The Tomoe Rinnegan reflected off Obito's mask as Sasuke smirked. "I bet you're looking pretty confused under that mask right now."
His blade sliced through the air, sending a spray of blood as it severed Obito's arm completely.
"You actually dodged the vital spot?" Sasuke glanced at Obito, who had jumped back to a safe distance, his smile growing even brighter. "I didn't expect to take care of you today, but if you die, your whole plan to revive the Ten-Tails falls apart, doesn't it?"
After all, the biggest boss would be gone.
Obito's face darkened as he stared at Sasuke. Blood trickled from his severed right arm. He glanced at his fallen hand on the ground, gripping Nagato's corpse a little tighter.
Sasuke narrowed his eyes. "Normally, if your arm got cut off, you'd be bleeding a lot more than that, wouldn't you?"
No, it wasn't just that—his bleeding had almost completely stopped. Aside from a little at the beginning, it had already come to a halt.
Sasuke looked at his sword. There wasn't a single drop of blood on it. "So that means… your right arm—no, your entire right side—is patched up with something else, isn't it? No wonder you survived the Kannabi Bridge battle, Uchiha Obito."
By now, he wasn't even surprised that people could say his name so easily. If anything, he'd be more surprised if someone didn't know it.
Ignoring Sasuke's question, Obito just stared coldly at him. "That moment just now… you really did appear right in front of me out of nowhere. That wasn't just high-speed movement."
"This kind of teleportation reminds me of someone annoying," Obito said, taking a deep breath. "The Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato. But I don't remember you leaving a Flying Thunder God mark on Nagato or me. So… is this a new space-time jutsu?"
It wasn't hard to figure out.
Obito wasn't as overpowered as some people, but he was still one of the strongest in the ninja world. With his Mangekyō Sharingan, it was nearly impossible for someone to surpass his visual perception and land a direct attack on him.
Plus, he had seen this kind of space-crossing attack before. The answer was obvious—Flying Thunder God.
But he was sure there was no Flying Thunder God mark on him… at least, not one from Sasuke. Nagato never interacted with Sasuke while alive, and after his death, he had only met Naruto. So the chances of Sasuke marking him were very low.
That left only one possible answer—this was a completely new space-time jutsu.
"Nice analysis." Sasuke spoke as he moved toward Konan, who was unconscious. He crouched down to check if she was still alive, then turned back to Obito. "My space-time jutsu is called 'Amenotejikara.' As for what it does… I'm not telling you."
"I don't really care about the details of your jutsu," Obito said with a smirk. "But I do know one thing—your space-time jutsu can't interfere with my Kamui."
Sasuke had to admit it—he had just tried using Amenotejikara to swap the kunai in his hand with Nagato's corpse, but it didn't work. His eyes couldn't lock onto Nagato, meaning… this guy had phased out, taking Nagato's body with him.
"You look pretty pleased with yourself," Sasuke said with a smirk.
"Shouldn't I be?" Obito replied coldly.
Sasuke twirled his sword playfully and said, "I don't know the exact limits of your Kamui, but I'm sure you can't keep it up forever. An hour? Two? Doesn't matter. The moment you turn solid, I'll kill you."
"You really think, with my power right now, I'd let you escape?"
The glow of his Tomoe Rinnegan and Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan was striking, even in the sunlight.
Obito gritted his teeth.
Again with this move! Damn Konoha shinobi, do you guys ever use anything else?
From a distance, Shikamaru gave a nod of approval.
