"I can't believe this," I muttered, dragging a hand down my face. "I'm in a foreign country, possibly kidnapped, missing all my things, and you're here grinning like it's your birthday."
"I'm not grinning," he said, still clearly grinning.
"I'm serious, Lyander. This isn't a joke. You can't just… reroute people's lives like this."
"And yet," he said, shrugging with that maddening calm, "I did. You should be impressed. Not everyone gets this level of attention from me, you know."
I spun around to storm down the jet bridge, intending to get as far away from him as possible—but I quickly realized I had no idea where I even was. The signs were in a language I didn't recognize. The airport was pristine, modern, and absolutely unfamiliar.
"Don't worry," Lyander said behind me, easily keeping pace. "I've arranged everything. Transportation, accommodation, even meals."
