"I fear I'm not late Lieutenant." I drop my hand carry down, next to me as I take a seat at his desk.
"You're not officer."
Someone knocks on the door. "Come in." Lieutenant says firmly.
Ali peaks through the door. "Sir" He enters. "We've got a witness." A witness?
"Who?" I turn to him. "Take a seat." Lieutenant gesture Ali.
"Sir, we have to hurry go there." Go where?
"What is going on?" I ask. My eyebrows pulled down in disorientation, as if I'm disconnected.
"I paid another visit to Troyville a few days back, as part of our ongoing investigation of course. The discovery you made of their mugshots when they were merely thirteen years old, and that those photographs were taken by your brother specially, bore a strike connection to your family."
I keep listening without saying anything as he continues.
"It appears he exercised his discretion and released them without further action. I aim to uncover the circumstances surrounding this decision and explore potential implications for our case."
"So, what did you find?" I ask.
"Someone who may not know Sam but infact your brother, it can lead us to Sam if Adam was involved with Faisal."
"He wasn't, there's no solid reason to jump to that conclusion." I grow aggressive.
"Detective Faiza, experience has taught me that to crack a case, one must employ the faculties of the mind, unencumbered by emotional entanglements." Lieutenant Arjun claims. My brother was not guilty and I'll prove that to them.
"Yes sir."
"Objectivity is our greatest ally sentiment, our most insidious foe. So let's proceed with discovered logic, rather than allowing the whims of the heart to cloud our judgment. Got it?" Lieutenant is lecturing me.
"Yes sir" My hands lightly clench into a fist under the desk.
"Go on Ali."
"I gave some civilians my card to contact me when or if they change their minds to speak, just by now we've gotten a call from a lady who wants to speak-" AIi proceeds.
My moblie buzzes, distracting all of us. It's Ifan. I gulp a lump down my throat and put my moblie upside down.
"As I was saying, we have to leave urgently before she takes back what she agreed on." Ali says.
"What if she's bluffing? What if it's Sam behind her?" I ask. "Don't act like an amateur Ali" why am I mad?
"I went undercover, even if it's a trap, no one can suspect we're cops. You're Sam's friend, no? A friend can visit." Ali raises his eyebrow.
"That'd only be necessary to state if something backfires, not fully" Lieutenant places his statement. "Take the aresst team with you, as backup for if something goes wrong, they won't be visible in town's eye. I want both of you to go as normal Citizens the same way you have been before, only inform necessarily that you're a cop. If you get a hinge of someone who might be on Faisal's side, don't blow your cover. The Cctv cameras will be turned off. Do your work to the full-strength, and complete it." Lieutenant orders.
"Yes sir."
We both get up.
On our way back to the town, my moblie kept buzzing.
"Who is it?" Ali looks down at my hands, while still driving. We're in his car.
"It's Ifan." I scratch my hand, for some reason my palms are ichy, I don't know to what I'm having an allergic reaction.
"Answer him" I can tell he's annoyed.
"I will later."
"It could be something importantly related to our case, or did you forgot about that?"
"I don't like your tone, keep it taunt free." I say.
He nods, disappointedly.
-4:30pm.
We reach, reload and hide our guns, and started to walk outside, keeping a firm sight all around us.
I rang her house's bell.
I look up, and there's a Cctv camera fixed over her house, it's tiny, sneaky. I guess, Faisal planted those everywhere around town, to have details of every single thing that goes around in this town. He's keeping the security tight. Looks like he's yet to know about us. He likes the power he holds over these cilivans. And I like the power, we hold over them to the point they have to be hidden for us to not throw them inside our celler.
She opens, a cranky sound echos and shakens the whole environment. I don't feel safe—
The secrets that lay in these streets are too concerningly disenchanted.
"SPD! take your steps back, we're here to arrest Adam in accordance with SHCD 421, Section 8, pertaining to corruption and misconduct by the Silvan's Haven City Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit!"
I take a deep sigh in. I'll prove your innocence.
An elderly woman opens the door and leads us to her living room, she nervously sits down on her sofa, following her, Ali and I take a seat infront of her.
"You wanted to meet." Ali asks gently.
"Yes" The woman takes a few minutes to answer, if she'll take that much time to answer every question, I'll lose my mind.
"Go ahead, we're listening, what do you know about Faisal?" Ali puts the recorder on, to record her statement as a witness.
"My husband worked for him for years."
"Worked? He doesn't anymore?"
"No." She's taking too long.
"Why's that." I appreciate Ali's patience, because I could never which is why a part of me is remaining quiet, I know the thought of my brother being blamed or being involved is making me sit at unease situation, but if he really is included in them- there's nothing I'd be able to do about it but to accept his loss of dignity and feel ashamed for him.
"When and why did he stopped working for him?" Ali repeats himself.
"Because they got him killed."
Ali looks over at me. "Do you have any idea why he would do such a thing?"
"My husband and I harbored his secret for a long time, bound by loyalty, until we couldn't no longer, when my husband finally decided to summon the courage to reveal the truth, to speak up and leave this world behind, once and for all. For this Faisal got displeased, and made him gone." Granny's voice is cranky, shaking.
"What secret Sally?"
"I shouldn't be telling you this, but I still can't breathe righteously, with my husband's memory roaming around in my brain."
Okay!? we get it granny, it's sad, get to the point.
"Which is why you need to tell us everything you know, for your husband's justice." Ali knows how to get answers out of someone.
"It's considered sinful, the act of bedroom before marriage." Is she seriously naming sex as 'the act of bedroom'? Besides who even use a bed now-a-days? In what acient world does this woman live in.
"Faisal did that act?" Ali asks. Faisal probably did that 'act' a thousand times with a thousand different women. Poor lady never left this town, and will never know about the world.
"With his partner's fiance." Sally bit her finger in hesitation.
"Did your husband ever mentioned who his partner was?"
"He didn't had to mention it, Faisal and Sarfaraz grew infront of our eyes, they used to run around these streets all the time, playing football, tag and more."
Sarfaraz—
"Can you tell us Sarfaraz's full name?"
"Sarfaraz Ahmed Yilmaz."
Oh God.
Sam's Father? Ali and I both look at each other furiously.
"What happend between them after Sarfaraz's fiance cheated on him?"
"What could've happend? She delivered the child."
I cough out loud. The child!? Faisal didn't use protection? Could it be on purpose?
"A child? Were their any conflicts happening between them when this occurred?" Ali asks.
"None that I know of, but the mother died a few months after her delivery."
"What happend to the child?"
"He gave him to us."
Him—a boy?
Could it be Sam? But Sam isn't that old.
"So you took care of him?" I ask. My arms resting on my knees.
"And I did a wonderful job at raising him, then one day he showed up and took my son away from us." She begins to cry.
"What did you name him?" Ali passes tissues to her.
"I named my sweet boy farukh- But Faisal changed his name after taking him away from us."
"Do you know what he changed it into?"
"Yes," She sniffs."Victor"
Every bone in my body gets stiffen. Victor is Faisal's blood related Son?!
"He was my sweet boy, even after becoming Victor he used to visit me with his friend Adam but my cursed son again lost his livelihood when his friend lost his legs in an accident, he was an officer at our town square station. What happend to that young man eight years ago is something that never got back to us."
But it did got back to us, to me, to our whole family. We had to go through every day of his misery and pain, every scream, every visit to the hospital- and all that we suffered happend because of your sweet maniac boy Victor.
"Was Victor involved in Adam's accident?" I ask, tensely.
"Oh no, no, God forbid my Son would never."
"But Faisal would, right?" I ask.
"I suppose." Granny's crying again, it's complete rubbish.
"And Victor is still in his slavery, which can possibly mean he did what he was ordered to?" I ask, I'm tensed.
"No no- Victor would never hurt Adam, they shared a bond so deep." She weeps. I want to ask more questions. I know it was Victor who tried to kill my brother. My family knew him. He never came for condolence, he vanished. Because he knew he was guilty.
"Any idea what happend to Adam was pre planned—"
"Do you have any clue on why or how did Faisal got where he is now?" Ali interrupts me and fully changes my question into his. Excuse me? I look at him with dismay. It's not like he's disappointing me for the first time but he's gone too far, I'm- dishearten.
"After Faisal's father was insulted and forced to vanish from the town by our executive ruler—"
"Ruler?"
"The one who takes care of us, and our town."
The one who died anonymously—The one whose hub was defeated.
"Why was Faisal's father forced to quit disrespectfully?"
"I dare not speak these words aloud, if anyone overhears, all will go wrong- uhm but the truth must be told. He went rogue, and our Ruler compelled by duty, banished him. it was a matter of time when Faisal began working for him, and in a few years we get the news of our Ruler's death. Whispers among us confirmed that Faisal's hand wielded the fatal blow. We all inside knew it was Faisal but we stayed silent. Our silence made Faisal be beseated his chair. But none of us could point him out- ever since that day he held a power so strong, his grip on us tightened, rendering us powerless." Sally sighs.
He took his revenge.
So that's how he died anonymously. It was Faisal who killed him.
"Does Victor know he's Faisal's child?"
"Oh no, no. I hope it stays that way." Granny is shivering, is she lying to us?
"Do you happen to know what happened on 8th of May, 2006." Ali asks.
"I don't remember much except for a explosion that happend in the middle of our town."
The explosion in which Sam's mother died.
"Was that an accident?"
"Yes, the woman left her oven open which caused her house an explosion." She replies. Utter lies. It's disgusting, every news channel know it wasn't an accident. I lean forward. "Do you know anything about Sam Yilmaz?" I ask. It's a small town, everyone must know everyone. She turn to me in such a short minute, that I'm confused now.
"Sam and Ifan?" She looks at me with full Pity. "Yes them." I ask.
"We couldn't do much for those poor kids."
"What happened to them?" I ask, and Ali gives me an odd look, as if jealous, as if controlled.
"Those poor children became orphans from a very young age. I don't know much, all of us avoided Mahmud, their uncle. He had issues, such deceptive, abusive man he was."
"And all of you, collectively, knowingly, being fully aware of how dangerously damaging things that abusive man could do to those children, every one of you still avoided him including neglecting those children?" I've come to realise, I became aggressive.
"It's always been that way young lady." Sally fixes her posture.
"And so you need to change it." I take a sigh in. God.
"How did they became orhapns in the first place?" I ask.
"Some reasons are better not heard." Sally is testing me.
"Speak!" I slam my hands down. She flinches and gulps.
"Mr deniz was an addict, he died in cancer, and soon after Mrs deniz took her own life. Such disgrace."
Ifan and Sam—they were miserable growing up. No wonder why they joined Faisal, to get out of that house, for security.
"What happend to Sarfaraz?" Ali rushes the next question.
"We don't talk about him. He dishonoured us."
"We have to know." Ali insists. But if it was me, I would've scared this old lady to death for her to speak up, it's better enough I'm induring this woman's bullshit lies.
"Sarfaraz wasn't a decent man—"
As they talked. I feel a sense someone's watching us, a dectective sixth sense. I get intimated to look around, so I do. When I look behind us, there actually is a guy peaking around through the window.
"Ali-"
Ali looks, and begin to run after him, I immediately grab the walkie talkie. "Secure the area, a shaddy guy is running towards, shut the cameras of all around the town ASAP move! move!" I yell in the speaker.
I came as a normal person, I can be seen in Cctv cameras. I run outside as well, when I see Ali running after him, I sprinted down the alley, my feet pounding the wet pavement, my eyes locked onto the fleeing suspect, a hooded figure darting between trash cans and leaping over puddles.
"Stop!" Ali yells, his voice echoing off the brick buildings.
The suspect veered left, onto 5th Street, weaving through pedestrians. I follow him, so does Ali, his gun drawn, his keys is bouncing against his chest.
Sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder. Our backup- I stop to signal them.
"Move right move right!" I order, mouthing my words as they're far.
My radio crackled. "Unit 12, suspect heading east on 5th."
I pick up my speed once again to catch up to them, my lungs are burning, I can't reach them now even If I run faster- if I run behind them I wouldn't be able to catch them in time- Think quicker, wiser, intellectual-
if I run around the hill I can hopefully cross before them to upfront them directly. Got it.
I go around the hill, gaining on the suspect, closing the gap. "HANDS where I can see them" I order loud and clear- Suddenly, the suspect ducked into a narrow stairway leading down to the subway. "Ugh crap-" I reload my run whilst running down, where is Ali!? The guy's footsteps clattering off the concrete- The suspect vaulted over the turnstile, I'm hot on my heels- bursting into the platform, the train rumbling in. Leaving now trace of that boy.
"Ugh Son of a bitch" I stomp my feet angrily down, eagerly. "The suspects down, reach ASAP." I send message to Ali.
"Aye aye Captain." The train moves, making a clear view of Ali standing on the other side with the suspect under his arm.
Oh wow..
He did it.

-
"Now that the truth has been revealed, we know that Faisal's ruthless ambition led him to murder his former boss and usurp his position as a gesture of revenge, power, and aggression. We then know that Sam's father was Faisal's closest friend, who tragically lost his life in a devastating fire. Faisal had a secret child with Sarfaraz's ex-fiancée, who later died due to severe sickness of blood loss after delivering a child because their local hospitals didn't have required equipments. But most astonishingly, we've learned that Victor, presumed to be Faisal's right-hand man, is actually his son from the deased woman"
What is all of this?
"We're Assuming victor doesn't know about it, because according to Sally, it was a sinful act to which Sally took an oath for Faisal she'd always keep it a secret, when in reality we think it was Faisals planning to cover his fault, or to discharge himself from this accountability and responsiblity of a child." Ali continues me
"Yes, and the suspect is currently being negotiated, he's not speaking, Ali and I will look after that." I inform.
"These are some new informative additions to our case, Good job both of you."
Yeah, it was progress after a while.
We nod.
"Dismissed, go rest now."
"Excuse us sir."
We leave Lieutenant's office.
"Come on let's grab some coffee, it's been a minute since we- hanged out." He meant since our close incounter of a makeout session that turned into a fuss-
"I have to get home, Ifan must be waiting for me-" I stop as I realise what I said was bullshit-
"Even if he is waiting- why do you care? You're acting as if he's your husband or something."
"I didn't mean it that way, anyway let's go get coffee"
"Now you want to have coffee?"
"Oh please, shut it." I move pass him.
"After you" And he opens his car door for me.
We sit down at a cafe.
"So I'm placing hypothetical conclusion. Their rest in peace leader, let's say might've humiliated Faisal's father, promoting Faisal's retaliatory murder and in a subsequent act of retribution, the opposing people, on ill leader's side, murdered Sam's father, who was Faisal's confidant, by doing that, they aimed to weaken Faisal. However, this tactic ultimately backfired, as Faisal's grief for Sarfaraz fueled his strength."
"Go on." Ali's hands clasped together.
"They made a comman mistake so to conceal that they staged the incident as an accident, same as they did with my brother, all is connected, all evidence points to complex connection, with Victor at the epicenter. what if, let's say, not surely, perhaps- even behind Faisal- Victor has been doing all the harm inflicted all along. Even potentially controlling Faisal's actions? Maybe not before Sarfaraz's death but after Faisal grew alone, What if he took advantage of that and started manipulating Faisal for his own way to be clearer?"
"Faisal can't be innocent."
"He's not- what I'm applying is an alternative theory. What if Victor became the mastermind behind Faisal's every move? A puppeteer controlling the strings, with Faisal merely a proxy."
"I'm all ears."
"Consider this, After the attempted assassination of my brother, what if Victor identified Sam and Ifan as potential witnesses? We both know they were there to help Adam, So to silence them, he may have offered them a faustian bargain, they offered them to work for them, provided free access to money, food and shelter, protection, and a life of comfort. Who would refuse such an offer right? Who has ever gone against that? especially when the alternative is death or silence?"
"So you're saying Sam and Ifan either have no idea what happend to Adam, or they decided to remain silent for their comfort's sake?"
"Can be." Though I wish it's the first option. If Ifan kept himself silent on purpose, and insulted my brother's rights. He'll automatically turn a monster in my eyes. Which I don't want him to be. I really don't.
"And?"
"And I think Sam's after his Father's murderer."
"Why would you think that?"
"Think about it- He did join Faisal for a reason, it's obvious Sam's affiliation with Faisal wasn't coincidental. Both have a history, a shared past that's likely to be a motivating factor. What if, we're witnessing a repetition of events, What if the history's repeating itself, the same cycle as Faisal's vengeance. Faisal got into this whole smuggling to take his Father's revenge.
It's plausible that Sam's revenge plan is, in fact, a mirrored echo of Faisal's own vendetta. He's after his Father's murderer." I say.
"I suppose you are close to being right Faiza."
"I'm always right." I sigh.
Sam joined for his reprisal burden to get forfilled, and Ifan helped him through. What if they're both not as filthy as I thought they were.
But I'm satisfied with what we found today. I got to realise how I'm an excellent dectective.
"I guess all we did is enough for today, my back is swolling up." Ali growls irritatingly.
"Let's head back home."
"Together?" He asks.
"I'm not going to my house, I'll be staying at the apartment tonight."
"Why?"
"Because that's my job." I defend myself. The main reason is, because Ifan kept calling today. As much as I don't want to admit that but.
I missed him..
I come home, not my actual house, my apartment. On my walk- I'm intimated to knock on Ifan's apartment, he's been calling me ever since I left, I should ask why he was contacting me.. or am I just making excuses to meet him, as soon as I sighed to knock, he opens the door and leaves my hand and breath hanging.
"Faiza?"
"Hi!" Sometimes I'm even disgusted by myself- what am I doing here?
"What are you doing here?" Trust me Ifan, I'm asking myself the same question here.
"I'm not sure." I say.
"You didn't answer any of my calls?"
"I was busy- it doesn't matter, can I come in?" I rushed my words on his face.
"Faiza-"
"Let me in first"
"Why are you doing this to me?" His voice got low, upset even.
"Why am I doing what?" Everything that happend today, makes me want to think- what If Ifan isn't a bad guy-
"Giving me all these mixed signals." He says.
"I'm not" I'm quick when it comes to defence. It's a reflex.
"Okay" His voice bearly came out as a whisper, he's disappointed- upset with me?
Hurt-?
And even if he is, why is it bothering me?
"Can I come-" My voice also dims.
"Sure" took him long enough to open the door all the way for me to enter.
"So where have you been?" He asks, he has that avoiding body language in manner- is he really that upset with me?
I've never admitted a mistake in my life- I won't to him, even if pretend.
"Not that it's any of your business but I was with a friend." I say.
"A friend?" I can see his jaw clenching with that sly smile on his face.
"I made you something" Ifan hands me an apron as soon as I take a seat.
"What is it?"
"I saw you scrolling on your moblie, websites of custom spongebob aprons." He sits beside me, his hands clasped together.
"It's rude, you can't just peak in my personal things?"
"It's not like you've never done it." He sank into the sofa- couch. He notices how I search his house?
his legs splayed out, taking space- and heaven knows he's hot. The tip of his elbow touches my lap, just a suddan slight brush and I can feel his warmth.
I say nothing to him in response because I have been unintentionally looking for it.
"I sowed it myself." He says. I press my fingers against the yarn, it's so outstandingly done- for the first time in history, in ages, I feel shy.. is my face turning red? I swear to God, it'd be so pathetic of me- he's a criminal, I want him behind bars within the next two months, I can not let this happen to me.
"Admit it" He leans forward, elbows on his knees. His eyes squints seductively with a slight smug grin on his face.
"What?" I blink.
"You like me."
Did my heart rate just dropped?
I say nothing, I stay silent for what reason?
"Don't lie" Ifan smirks.
I think I do-
I'm starting to.
"Let's not go there." I draw lines.
"Where do you want to go then?" What does he mean? That sounded seductive.
"I'm not quite sure what you want to hear."
"I want to hear you say my name." He leans in, grazing his lips against my ear slowing brushing them down to my lips, I so desperately want to part my lips open for him to get what he wants- his hand grazes my thigh, and I bite back my urge to moan, his warm fingers grips my upper thigh.
"I don't hate the apron" I whisper. He tilts his face a bit back. "Do you like it?" He's staring at my lips. "Partly." I say.
"Then I guess I'll just have to take it back." He tries to take it from me but I pull it away, raising my arm up out of his reach but he's obviously taller than me.
"You said you don't like it, so give it back" He again gently tries to snatch it from me.
"I said partly, do you not listen?"
"It's all about that tone ma'am."
"So you're taking it back because you didn't like my tone?" Make it make sense, how can a smuggler be that stupid. "Why? I can't even be upset now?" He leans on me, distracting me with his words to slowly snatch it away- awfully hot move, I don't want his upper body touching mine, but at the same time—I don't mind it.
"Call me ma'am one more time and I'll think about returning it." I say, teasing him.
I don't want to give it back, and perhaps I do like it when he calls me ma'am.
He unexpectedly pulls my legs, spreading them around him, I keep my arm still far from his reach.
"Ma'am" He whispers- and only heaven knows what is happening to me.
"You like ordering me, don't you?" He squints his eyes with sarcasm and seduction. I do often command, to test his limits. His fingers linger across my arm and I've never left this weak before, but I'm weak when it's him- his body over mine- that sly smirk on his face.
"Okay fine-" I break eye contact for us to sit back to normal again, he sits up straight and I sat with my legs crossed. My feet tapping.
"Hurry now" He fakes a yawn.
"Fine" I make him think I'll return it but as soon as he raises his hand, I dangle my apron in front of him, and try to walk away in a hurry, but he wraps me in his arms and we both trip over, he falls over on his back and I, on top of him. I try to immediately get up but that's when my breath sucked in when I hear him ask. "Don't move, can we stay like this for awhile?"
I drop my head down on his chest, I've officially given up, I can no longer pretend that I'm not starting to like him- he's too gentle with his words- cuddling in, this is happening quickly. It's shallow, rubbish and I think I'm tripping- aren't I?
"IFAN"
I knew she like me- why is it so hard for her to admit it, though something seem off. I'm starting to really get a bloody hold of her. She's- addictive but I know, I can feel that she's hiding something.
"When did you feel the most scared in life?" She's coming up with Q and As again.
"Let me remember." I ask for time, let's see, when my father was dying in cancer or when my mother took her life-? when my uncle abused me or when my aunt abused Ayat? When we were getting kicked out of our house or when we started working for Faisal? The thought of losing Sam or the thought of falling for her? Every one of these events made me lose my shit, scared. Where do I even begin?
"Maybe the thought of losing Sam is when
I feel the most scared"
"What makes you think you'd lose him?"
"Life takes unpredictable turns, we can never be too sure."
"You know, I wasn't surprised when you said you guys aren't blood related brothers, because Sam certainly does not look like Ayat's brother for how he looks at her."
I laugh at her question.
I also noticed that, but I never got into depth.
"He's our childhood friend slash we took him our home after he lost his mother-" Did I spoke too much? Shit- she has that power of making people spill out.
"His mother?"
"Let's change the subject" I cough. "You wanna get up or will you sleep the night here too." I tease her.
"I wouldn't mind." She raise her brow and I laugh at her sarcasm. "Oh how I would love that." I act. "Let's eat something first." Faiza gives me that warm welcoming smile again. I've survived thousands of things in life, so I can be sure there's nothing to fear now. But she- I don't know if I'd be able to survive her. She's either going to be the best experience of my life or the worst. I can't tell.
"What do you want to eat?"
"Sushi sounds fun?"
"Let's order sushi!"
-Incoming video call from Sam, on Skype pops up on my Tv screen-
I accept it.
His huge face shows up when it connects.
"Ifan!"
"Slow down Sam it's nearly midnight, my neighbours must be sleeping." I put the volume down.
"Ifan there's something we need to talk about, I have to borrow you for a while."
It's the first time he's calling me after we set those limits between us. He didn't call, so I didn't wait. I guess that's what happens when we grow apart. He hasn't visited the city either, I could tell he was avoiding something or someone, and I know it's not just me. I guess he fought with Ayat or something, I don't know, I'm assuming because it's been a week and they haven't stayed in contact either. Whatever is going on in his head, I hope it leads him somewhere he wishes and not some rat hole.
"Yeah tell me, what's up?" I say. As soon as I accepted the call we both stood up straight up.
"Yeah, hey Faiza," He can see her in the background. Faiza smiles and waves at him.
"I'm sorry, I need to borrow Ifan for a second, I need to talk to him alone, it's kinda urgent."
"You can talk infront of her." I try to make Faiza feel comfortable.
"No, its okay, I'll be back later." She leaves my apartment.
God bloody hell Sam, we were really onto something.
"I can see you're ovulating." He jokes, looking down at me. Son of gun, he's right. I immediately sit down, and placed a cushion on between my waist and knees.
"So?" I say.
"Police were spotted at our village." Sam whispers. What? Police!?
"Really? Why do you think?" I ask. Keeping myself calm.
"I think they're onto us, maybe tracking us for who knows how long."
"They came in their uniforms?" I ask.
"None that were seen, only a cop van was sighted." He raise his brow.
"Because If they're tracking us, for we don't know how long, they must've been doing it in secrecy. Why would they blow their covers now?" I assume.
"You can be smart sometimes, why didn't I think of that. They were stealthy, they hijacked all our security cameras of the town." He says "Anyway, everything's still being figured out back at the mansion, two of them were caught in some of our old neighbour's house, that's when our guy saw them and they arrested him, therefore we don't know who they are."
"Wait- aressted?" My heart feels heavy.
"Yeah but Faisal sent some boy from the neighbourhood, not a member. He'll most probably spill that he was sent there forcefully, none else, none more, he doesn't know about the business so he can't tell them anything." Sam sighs.
"So what will we do now?"
Last time I visited them, I convinced myself to find out what Victor is hiding, now all of this? I'm still not backing off. He thinks I abandoned him, which is false. I'll prove that to him.
"We have to be careful for now, the police are closer than we think"
"Their involvement isn't something I was looking forward to Sam- "
"I get it Ifan. I do, and I'm sorry this is happening. Everything happend so suddenly, I had to tell you before you'd hear from anyone else."
"Yeah, I appreciate it." It feels weird talking to Sam after so long. It's like the boundaries are still there yet not,
but this entire situation is bad. The police weren't suppose to get involved.
This is real bad.
Bloody hell.
