The battlefield trembled as Liam, Jack, Amelia, and Luna stood before Lisa's father. His towering figure radiated malice, the shadows around him writhing like living creatures. His smirk was calm, almost amused, as he regarded the four warriors before him.
Lisa's Father:
"Ah… children who think they can kill me. How amusing."
Liam stepped forward, his blade crackling with electricity, his eyes burning with raw determination.
Liam:
"We're not just thinking about it. We will kill you, you son of a bitch."
Lisa's father chuckled, his voice like the whisper of something ancient and malevolent.
Lisa's Father:
"You remind me of your past self, Alex… so full of rage, so certain of your strength."
Liam's grip tightened on his blade.
Liam:
"Don't call me that."
Jack stood beside him, lightning arcing across his body, his fists clenched.
Jack:
"Liam, let's shut this bastard up."
Luna and Amelia exchanged a glance before stepping into position. Luna's water magic swirled around her, a torrent of raging waves forming at her feet. Amelia, her golden light shining brilliantly, raised her staff, preparing to strike.
Lisa's Father:
"Then come, children. Let's see if you can last more than a minute against me."
And with that, the battle erupted.
Liam was the first to move. His body flickered forward, vanishing in a burst of lightning. He reappeared above Lisa's father, blade descending with a violent crack of thunder.
Lisa's father lifted a single hand. The shadows surged to meet the strike, forming a dense barrier that absorbed the impact. The shockwave of the collision shattered the ground beneath them.
But before Lisa's father could counter, Jack appeared on his left, his fist wrapped in a vortex of lightning.
Jack:
"Eat this!"
Jack's fist connected, sending an explosive surge of electricity into Lisa's father's side. The dark mage staggered slightly, his smirk flickering for only a moment before he twisted his arm and unleashed a wave of black tendrils.
Jack barely had time to react before the tendrils lashed out, knocking him back.
Lisa's Father:
"Pathetic."
Suddenly, a blast of light magic struck him from behind. Amelia, standing her ground, channeled her divine energy into another attack.
Amelia:
"You're underestimating us."
A beam of pure golden radiance shot from her staff, piercing through the darkness. Lisa's father turned just in time to raise a hand, blocking the beam with a dense wall of shadows.
Lisa's Father:
"Light magic? Tch. Annoying."
But as he fended off Amelia's assault, he failed to notice Luna's attack.
A massive wave of water surged from beneath his feet, twisting and crashing with incredible force. Lisa's father was lifted off the ground and slammed into a nearby boulder.
Luna:
"Now, Liam!"
Liam didn't hesitate. Lightning surged through his blade as he charged, his movements too fast for the eye to follow. He appeared above Lisa's father and swung down.
The attack connected. The explosion of lightning sent tremors through the entire battlefield. Smoke and dust filled the air.
Jack grinned.
Jack:
"Got him!"
But as the dust settled, Lisa's father emerged—his cloak of darkness now pulsing, his eyes glowing with malevolence. He wasn't injured.
Lisa's Father:
"You think… that was enough?"
His voice was calm, but the air around him had changed. The darkness surged, growing even stronger.
Liam's heart pounded.
Liam:
"Shit—"
Lisa's father raised his hand. A tidal wave of shadows burst forth, swallowing Liam, Jack, Luna, and Amelia.
The wave of darkness crashed over them like a monstrous tide. Liam barely had time to react before he felt himself being pulled into the abyss.
He gritted his teeth and forced lightning through his body, breaking free just in time to see Jack getting consumed by the shadows.
Jack:
"What the hell is this?!"
The darkness wrapped around him, constricting like living chains. Jack struggled, sparks of lightning bursting from his body, but the shadows resisted, draining his energy.
Amelia and Luna fared no better. Amelia's light flickered as the abyssal energy pressed down on her, suffocating her magic. Luna gasped, her water magic evaporating against the sheer pressure of the darkness.
Lisa's Father:
"Do you see it now? The difference in power? This is the abyss. And you… are insects before it."
Liam roared, forcing himself free with a surge of electricity. His eyes locked onto Lisa's father, his fury reaching its peak.
Liam:
"Shut the hell up!"
In an instant, he shot forward, his blade crackling like a storm incarnate. He slashed—again and again—each strike sending out devastating arcs of lightning.
Lisa's father moved effortlessly, dodging, parrying with only his hands. But for the first time, Liam saw it—hesitation.
Liam:
"You're not invincible, asshole!"
Jack, still entangled in the abyss, gathered all the electricity in his body.
Jack:
"Hey, Liam! Get ready!"
He released it all in one blast. The shockwave shattered the shadows holding him and collided with Lisa's father's side.
Lisa's father grunted. The attack didn't wound him, but it had broken his stance.
Luna used the opportunity to strike. She twisted her hands, and a massive surge of water condensed into a spear of ice.
Luna:
"Let's see you block this!"
She hurled the spear. It soared toward Lisa's father, but at the last second, he smirked.
Lisa's Father:
"Cute."
The darkness twisted and ate the ice spear whole.
Luna:
"What?!"
Before she could react, Lisa's father gestured, and the abyss retaliated. Black spikes erupted from the shadows, targeting all four of them.
Amelia was the fastest to react. She slammed her staff into the ground, and a barrier of light formed just in time to block the attack.
Amelia:
"I won't let you win!"
Lisa's father narrowed his eyes.
Lisa's Father:
"You're getting on my nerves, girl."
The darkness collapsed in on itself, forming a singularity.
Amelia's barrier cracked. Then shattered.
She gasped as the force slammed into her, sending her flying.
Liam's blood boiled.
Liam:
"That's enough!"
Lightning exploded from his body, engulfing the battlefield in a blinding storm. He moved faster than ever before, appearing right in front of Lisa's father.
And this time, he wasn't holding back.
Liam:
"DIE, YOU BASTARD!"
He swung. The force of the attack split the air.
For the first time, Lisa's father dodged.
But Liam was already moving again.
Strike.
Again.
Again.
Each slash carried the weight of his fury, the storm raging around him. Jack joined in, his fists crackling with power.
Lisa's father blocked one hit—two hits—three—
But then Liam's blade found its mark.
The lightning-infused slash tore through his side, the impact shaking the entire battlefield.
Lisa's father staggered.
Lisa's Father:
"You…wounded me?"
Liam grinned, his breath heavy.
Liam:
"Told you, asshole. You're not invincible."
Lisa's father glared at him, his smirk gone. His darkness surged, his power reaching its peak.
Lisa's Father:
"…Then I suppose it's time I stopped playing."
The battlefield shook.
The abyss rose.
The real battle was only just beginning.
