On her way back to her bedroom, Mallory caught sight of Matthew heading outside. She decided to follow him outside and ask him about why he left the dinner table so abruptly, and maybe fish for some information on his aunt.
But, her plans fell to the wind when Matthew answered a phone call. "Han, is that you?!" He cried out, his voice filled with joy and desperation.
Mallory blinked twice, Matthew had never sounded so passionate before, she had pegged him for the nonchalant type, but it seemed like she was gravely mistaken.
His voice, a soft plea, he begged, "Please, don't hang up! I've called and texted and even given you space. Please…don't push me away anymore, I can't bear it."
Once again, Mallory was shocked, who was this woman that could make an arrogant man like Matthew beg in such a way.
She tried to listen in further, but Matthew walked further way to have the rest of the call…
