Chapter 31 - Arrival

Finishing my painting I see that Rose now has her eyes closed leaning back into her chair as her mouth is slightly opens breathing in and out. Looking down at my painting I take in what I have created. The silver sun dipping below the horizon casting the valley in a beautiful fiery hue of ember, soft purples and deep blues. With Rose sat by the massive window pane holding a small oak brush painting on her own canvas the colour further distorting. Standing up I carefully move my seat without making too much noise as I slowly move over to the sofa to grab a blanket. Walking back over I begin to open the blanket feeling the fluffy texture between my fingers as I cover Rose in it ensuring she is fully covered and warm. Making my way to the central device I start trying passwords again, just anything that comes to mind.

Sat on the chair in front of the screen Will continues password after password, Rose said not to try it but he thinks different, it could give an insight to help to the rebellion. However, after maybe a hundred tries now none have worked. Pushing himself away from the desk he looks over to Rose, in his peripheral the sun now fully gone with just the shade of the night sky illuminating what's visible of the valley. Gazing down at the time shown in the bottom right of the screen he gets out of the chair making his way over to Rose, gently picking her up he carries her to their makeshift bedroom, moving the duvet out of the way he carefully places her down and re-covers her with the duvet. Moving the hair out of her eyes a gentle smile tugs at his lips as he moves back to the control room to clean up and try some more passwords.

A convey of cars move throughout the countryside heading towards an unknown destination to most of them, but to one, the location of someone. "Was it wise leaving them in charge Mr Collins?" a voice questions a loud in the central car. "I mean granted they will expand our territory a lot, but their ways in doing so is quite questionable" A soft sigh echoes throughout the vehicle as Mr Collins speaks up "Sometimes what we need is a strong and violent driving force to get our way, it is a sacrifice we must take, anyway you shouldn't worry about that, we have some people to find and a mystery to solve." Slightly adjusting his gaze to the rear-view mirror he looks at the final occupant in the car, Dr Goult. Remembering back to the meeting there is still one question on his mind, leading to the current mystery he has to solve. Nothing like asking out right he thinks to himself. "You say you know who she is with don't you Dr?" Mr Collins queries. A quick glance to the mirror again and he sees Dr Goult slightly smirk. "I can't tell you that now can I, that would spoil the fun wouldn't it." The women in the passenger seat turns her body round to face him dead in the eye voicing "You are a prick, you know that" which immediately elicits a laugh from the Dr and a small chuckle from Mr Collins. Turning back around she speaks again "Surely we are close by, we are driving in some of the fastest cars, and I'm tired, and it is getting dark" Outside the car the moons shadow casts a darkness along the road where the light shines along the outside covering the forest and showing the upcoming valley entrance. "We will be there shortly, no need to worry" Dr Goult says voice dripping with confidence.

Password after password yet none seem to work, grabbing his hair in frustration he groans aloud laying his head on the table. In a moment of anger thoughts flash through his mind similar to the ones showing him this location, an array of different letters and numbers. One last try he whispers to himself as he begins typing a password, much longer than any he has ever tried yet this ones feels natural to his hands. Sitting up lets out a low sigh as he presses enter, almost instantaneously the screen changes as it loads onto a complex system. Eyes scanning the screen he reads different folders with some seeing like images or evidence, research work and some being locations. Beginning to look through them what he finds only begins to elicit more memories.

"This view looks quite nice" she states trying to ease the tension fuelled by everyone's tiredness. "But are we nearly there yet?" she questions again, at this point it is basically a rhetorical question yet it still gets a reply, "God do you ever shut up, you are like a child up!" Mr Collins complains yet this is an answer that they both appreciate. "Yes actually, tell the lead car to go the next turn off and follow the road, but turn off all lights and go slow" Mr Goult announces as Mr Collins begins to radio the lead car.

Writing down everything that I think will be useful for the rebellion my notepad is already nearly full. Looking down I have labelled locations, patrols, stores of resources and in general what I believe necessary. Closing one folder an alert comes up on the bottom of the screen flashing red, clicking on it the screen changes showing surveillance footage of the road to the entrance. The camera shows a convey of cars moving along the road, no lights and slow, almost unnoticeable however, the cameras have picked them up. A light blue illuminates the room as an autonomous voice speaks out "Welcome back Dr Wilson, what course of action would you like to take for the intruders?" Looking around Will comes to the conclusion it is a system built into the facility. "Let them in and keep them locked in the car park" he announces aloud. "Of course Dr" Leaving the room he heads to the makeshift bedroom, entering he slowly walks over to Rose brushing hair out of her face as her light breath sounds gently. Tapping her shoulder he whispers softly enough to wake her "Rose, there are people in the car park"
