Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

Alexander's POV

It took around two hours for Michael to step out of the room. The moment he stepped out, my heart broke. There were tear stains on his face; the tears hadn't stopped yet, and there was no wall. I felt his raw emotions, and they were incredibly painful.

"Love..." I pulled him in a hug.

The moment he was in my arms, he burst out crying. I held him as tight as I could, but every sob of his was breaking my heart.

Suddenly, Tina came out of the council room.

"We have decided to take down the pack," she said and looked at Michael, who crying in my arms while clenching my t-shirt. "Take him home. He shouldn't have suffered so much."

I frowned because I don't know the details. "I have no idea what he has been through. I don't know how to comfort him." It hurts that strangers know what happened to him, but I don't.

"It's better if you don't know. Because if the alphas who are not even his mate had a hard time controlling themselves from ripping apart a dead wolf, then his alpha wouldn't be able to control at all" she looked at me "If that bastard was alive, then I am sure Micheal would have told you what happened, Alexander but he is not alive. Your wolf would never be able to hold back."

"This is just making me wonder more, what the hell happened to my mate?! The man whom I have never seen lose his control, not even once, is crying his eyes out like a baby after talking about what happened. You don't know the pain I can feel because for the first time, he let his walls down completely."

Tina showed me a small smile. "I will never know, Alexander, and I don't want to know. Just stay by his side; he needs you more than ever right now. Don't question him about his past."

"If I didn't do it with everything that has happened since the day I found out he was my mate, I won't do it now."

Tina nodded, "Take him home. We will keep you both updated with everything happening."

I nodded. "Do we need to stay in the town?"

"It would be better if you stayed in the town for a few days, in case we need him."

I frowned. I am not letting him speak or even think about those times again. "No, you will not talk to him about his past again. You will not come to him for that. You got everything you wanted."

"I know you are being protective, Alexander and I completely agree with your protectiveness because if I were in your place, then I would have been too. But if we need a little more information to take the pack down, he needs to talk. We can't have another victim like him."

I sighed. "Give him some time to calm down." I knew she was right, but I don't have the heart to make him feel what he is feeling. It hurts that he is hurting so much, and I don't know what to do.

Tina smiled at me and nodded. "You know, he told us that when his mate accepts him for him, he will come and tell us everything."

I frowned. He met the council before?

"When did he meet you?"

"To become your pack member, as a beta, he had to come here for some process. He told us that then. That was the first time he came to us. The second time was when he and your father had work in the city, I think he was in his early twenties. He came to us and told us he had found his mate, but his mate hasn't reached the age yet. So, after they reach their age and accept him, he will come and tell us"

"He knew I would accept him no matter what. He knew that all along," I said while looking at Michael, who seemed to have long fainted because I could feel his calm breath, but the pain was still the same.

"Yes. He was right, you did accept him."

"I always wondered why he never approached me once; he never even looked at me like that. On top of that, he avoided me as much as he could."

"He did that because he knew his wolf would go crazy around you, and he didn't want to be like his previous head alpha, even though this time you are his mate. He hated that bastard, and if he became like him, then he would never forgive himself."

I sniffed, "My mate is the best." I sniffed his hair and was surprised.

"What happened? Is something wrong with him?!"

"His scent... It changed"

"I will call the medics."

I smiled, "No."

"You are smiling. Why?"

"Because when his parents visited, his mother told us that his scent is fresh and like a forest in spring."

"Then about his rainy and gloomy forest scent?"

"That is his sad scent." I hugged him tighter and pecked his head while I was still smiling, "My mate is healing. He is healing." I looked at Tina with tears in my eyes, "After years, he is healing after so many years."

"I am glad," she showed a genuine, happy smile.

"It isn't that much different, but he is healing, and that's all that matters. One step at a time"

"Yes. You should go home now."

"Yes. Thank you," I smiled, genuinely, because if it weren't for him letting out in front of them of whatever he had been through, then this would have never happened.

"He had his support. I will go and discuss our next of how to take the pack down," I nodded. She went back inside and closed the door.
