Ideally, it would've been best to transfer into Alpha only in March—but no one in the family would take that seriously. They'd just assume I "hopped on the last train."

 

And even though both Erin and Alea were aware of my intentions, they still couldn't bring themselves to approve. In their eyes, I was supposed to "always be at the top"—as a successor, a student, a knight. Not surprising. That's just the kind of standards they lived by.

 

Sigh... The only thing stopping me from going directly against them was the guilt I felt toward Erin. I knew that the only reason she was holding herself back, staying in Beta, was because of me. She'd never say it out loud, but I knew.

 

Still, all of this... is temporary. Things will change soon.

 

Speaking of politics... Luminar Academy wasn't just some elite educational institution. In truth, it was a state within a state. A semi-autonomous territory, funded by several nations—including allies and potential enemies alike.
