4 Years Later Todoroki Household
Shinra's eyes shot open, a surge of pain coursing through his bruised body. He curled into a ball, rolling off the bed and onto the toy-covered floor. The pain was overwhelming, leaving him wide awake and helpless, forced to endure the incessant taunting.
"Shin, guess who got their quirk!" An annoying high-pitched voice sounded above him. I did, who did, I DID!!"
Shinra groaned in pain before blankly staring his brother in the eye. Sho simply smiled at him in excitement, holding a flame and a ball of ice in his two hands, the melting ice dripping on Shinra's face as he stood over him, humming the heroic tune of the great All Might in victory, and nodding his head in acknowledgment as he studied the various posters and collectables on Shinra's side of the room. Though Shinra could see him eyeing him down, looking for any reason to showcase his newfound dominance.
It was his fault for being such a good big brother and not allowing the little one to be scared alone in a dark room.
" Sho, get off your big brother, now" Shinra stated not bothering to hide his pain fueled frustration.
" You know Shin I was thinking about that, with me getting my quirk first and all, I think you should lower your tone, I mean how can you be considered older when I got my quirk first" The boy said philosophically, grasping his chin. and not bothering to move from his spot.
"Oh, that actually sounds like a reasonable idea." Shinra changed his tone, removing all anger from his appearance and waited for an opening. Immediately, the boy proudly postured himself, breaking rule 5 of herodom, don't leave yourself open for attack. Before the boy could enunciate his big brother promotion speech, Shinra swiftly knee'd him in the shin and pushed him to the ground, Igniting an aggravating cry and rolling motion. Shinra in this off time pushed himself slowly off the ground and stood over the crying child.
" I'll agree to you being older, when you're powerful enough to hit me ten times in a row. But that won't ever happen so you don't worry your little head about it" Shinra rubbed Shoto's head but the boy only cried louder.
Cold sweat began to appear on his arm." Hey, you can stop crying. I'm sorry, okay? Here, I'll let you hit me back once, but only on the arm. "Shinra offered up his bruised arm as repayment, but it was already too late. The loud cries of the lamb attracted the caring Shepherd.
"Ahh, Shinra hit me, and he keeps scaring me with his creepy smile."
The rumbling of stairs, the weighty footsteps of that demon, and the barrage-like banging of the door. Sent chills down Shinra's spine.
The door opened with a *Boom* as it slammed against the wall.
The temperature in the room grew to an overwhelmingly cold degree." Shoto stop the crying, your going to wake mom" The boy stopped immediately and smiled "and you" Shrina felt the cold eyes on the back of his head "Since you obviously caused this mess you have too clean up all our rooms for the week and I'll be giving you a massage later"
Shinra groaned in response as Fuyumi left the room as quickly as she came. He was sure the 12-year-old knew he was adopted, the way she treated him. Of course, she was caring and motherly, but she definitely was more of those things to the other kids. However, there could be another reason for it.
"That's why Father didn't train you today; he's obviously thinking of making me his successor instead," Shoto smugly said. I'll be stronger than you in no time, and then you'll call me by my proper title."
Shinra just sighed in disbelief. Natsuo had caused this mess with his big mouth, and Shoto was technically the big brother.
"So..." Shoto began nervously, "what kind of quirk do you think you'll get?"
Shinra watched as the boy limped to the open room door like a dog without its fourth leg. He sometimes wished he could feel pain in the shins, but only a bit; his shins were already too damaged to feel anything.
"Why do you ask? Shinra asked genuinely interested "Don't you want me to get something like the power of having farts that never stink"
The boy shook his head, "No... It's just that, father will ignore you, and you're injured all the time. Maybe the training will be too hard? Just get something good, okay. The boy was almost out of the room.
"Don't worry I won't, though father doesn't actually train me, I get to follow him when he's fighting real villains" Shinra tried to ease the boy's doubts. He actually doesn't train one on one anymore, he and his adoptive father had come to an understanding that nothing regading combat could be learned anymore.Saving people was now the real training, and it was more intense as well.
"Really! I'll have to tell Natsuo. Soon, I'll be father's new sidekick." The boy finished limping out of the room, but soon, he was yelling for his brother again from the living room downstairs.
"Shiiiin, it's All might, a villain is calling him out on TV.
He ran downstairs swiftly, entering a room with all his family, except, of course, Endeavor. Fuyumi and Natsuo sat on the couch, eating cereal, eyes fixed on the TV. Shoto was trying to get his newly awake mom away from the stove as she was on the phone and boiling water for tea, and Toya simply sat at the dinner table staring at nothing.
" Mom come on you have to see All might , he's definitely going to end this guy" His mother turned, but with a look of fear along with anger and disgust, she grabbed the kettle and..
"Mother won't you watch TV with us? I was wondering where father is. Maybe he'll show up and fight the villain." The voice stopped her in her tracks as though she remembered something, She turned to Shinra with a look of sorrow and pity in her eye "Of course Shin we'll watch it together, though I'm not sure your father will show up.
Shinra has seen that look on his mother's face. Anytime she faces one of his male siblings, like Toya, she gets worked up and almost crashes. Though he's always there to stop her, she seems to have something against everyone but him and Fuyumi.
"You never listen to me, it's always shin." Shoto (not scarred) follows them to the couch to watch this villain.
A news helicopter recorded the video as All Might stood in opposition to a man with white hair and red eyes wearing a suit.
"You know, Nana's successor, you're an interesting guy—so mighty, so powerful, mysteriously so. Yet in my century of experience, I find that you aren't the most interesting individual. Even in your own generation, there is one who stands out beyond your ever-shining light.
"No way he's over 100. Villains are always lying for cool points," the young Fuyumi blushed as she gazed at the two powerful men.
"Don't speak her name."
"I find that women irrelevant now anyway. Your number 2 Endeavor, however, is someone interesting. I'd rather fight him instead, Nana's successor.
Turning to the camera, the man continued," Endeavor, you should know where this is. I know how hard you work to keep Japan safe. Instead of All Might, I'd rather fight you. Meet here in ten minutes. "The man pointed his hand towards the helicopter, and the screen went blank.
"It seems we lost connection with our air team. We will be sure to find another way to this battle between our All Might and this mysterious individual. Come back later for more info. "The TV cut to regular news.
"You think Dad will show?"
"Of course he will show a chance to one up All Might, he dreams of this!"
"I'm sure your father will make the right choice."
As the others began speaking on the ordeal, Shinra stayed silent, stuck in his thoughts.
Whenever he and Endeavor would go out to fight villains, there was usually no trouble, most of which was Endeavor's doing. Still, Shinra himself had the strength of someone with a weaker strength enhancement quirk, even without him unlocking his yet. Though none of the villains looked to be the one All Might was facing.
"I can finally see his true strength, a new way to use flames," Shinra thought. How he would get there to see the battle in person was the question, as, knowing his father, he would definitely show up.
"You want to see it?"
"What?"
"You want to see the battle?" Toya had finally spoken, suddenly whispering in Shinra's ear and shifting from foot to foot nervously.
"Sure, but how do you know where the battle is? " Shinra wasn't shocked at him being snuck up on, for some reason he had a way of know when anyone related to flame were near. Fuyumi, his mother and Natsuo were a different case though.
"Father used to take me there to train, before you two were born." He pointed to him and Shoto
"I'll go. You have to make sure not to tell the others, though."
"Of course I won't, but mom will want to know-"
"She won't want to know anything if you just keep your mouth shut and follow me to your room."
Confused how going to him and Shoto's bedroom would help them leave. Shrina quickly got up and followed his older brother out of the room, not bothering to make an excuse as everyone else was still focused on the TV.
Toya led him to their closet and there in lied a black mixed with purple portal.
