I've learned not to dismiss Kryptosia's suspicions. Red Bamboo definitely seems shady. "I understand. We'll keep an eye on him. Honestly, he seemed like he was playing both sides--the emperor's and the farmers'."
Kryptosia grins. "Permission to shadow him when you don't need me? And when i say shadow, I mean that he'll never see or hear me."
"Be our guest," Daji replies around a mouthful of duck congee. "Go see what he's up to."
Laying aside her napkin, Kryptosia floats out of our imperial quarters.
Tina hands me the thick book on the Honeydrop Phoenix, and I open it to read over breakfast, with Daji and Tina reading along with me on either side and Baby Krak listening as I read aloud.
