The room seemed almost terrifyingly large.
Mu Yin felt a heavy sense of unease, slowly packing up her things before heading into the bathroom for a leisurely soak in the tub. She didn't want to get out, as if by lingering, time would move quicker.
But when she emerged with her skin wrinkled from the water, the bedroom was still empty; he hadn't returned.
Having had no expectations, she wouldn't have been disappointed.
Now, time felt excruciatingly slow...
As midnight passed, Mu Yin listened for any sound outside but heard nothing.
She had no choice but to turn off the main light and lay down in bed.
But then, her senses sharpened, tossing and turning with no hint of sleep.
The feeling of loss in her heart grew with each passing moment...
Until the latter part of the night.
Convinced that he probably wouldn't come back, Mu Yin finally gave up. Exhausted in body and spirit, she closed her eyes and drifted into a fitful sleep as the faint morning light crept in.
