After tucking Emily in for the night, Damon sighed as he headed for his bedroom. It had been a long day, and an even longer week, and he was exhausted.
He was glad that in spite of the little boy's outburst at the orphanage, Emily's birthday and had gone smoothly, and she was happy.
As he walked past Jessica's bedroom, he hesitated at the door and thought of checking in on her, but he changed his mind.
He knew she was exhausted. She had been dozing in the car during their drive back from the orphanage. He didn't want to disturb her sleep in case she was in bed already.
He continued to his bedroom, and the moment he opened the door and stepped in, his lips curved in a smile when he saw sitting on the edge of his bed with a glass of wine in hand.
"I thought you'd be sleeping by now," he said as he walked in and shut the door behind him.
"I thought so too, but I need to take care of something first," she said, and he raised a brow.
