Chapter 212 Rest
After an intense pause, Lucia heard Daniel firmly say, "I understand," although his demeanor still showed some of his doubt.
Lucia thought she was in the clear, but his killing intent was unmistakably still around. The pressure it gave off weighed heavily on her, nearly making her reveal the truth, though she managed to hold her tongue.
"So this is what a real warning feels like," Lucia thought, feeling like she was on the chopping block. Filled with fear and anxiety about what Daniel might do, she hoped her words would buy her enough time until Aleshia woke up again.
Thankfully, after a few moments that felt much longer and drawn out for Lucia's comfort, Daniel released his intent and withdrew it. Immediately, the pressure Lucia felt within her body lifted, but a lingering sense of dread still hung in her mind.
After briefly examining the room and fiddling with the magical appliances, Daniel prepared to leave. Just before stepping through the door, he expressed some of his concerns. "I'm not sure how well you understand humans, but please ensure the girl gets some rest or that her body rests at a reasonable hour. At the very least, allow her the opportunity to rest, if I may be so bold," Daniel finished before exiting the room.
Once Daniel left the room and his footsteps faded away, Lucia felt herself unconsciously relaxing. Her hat body folded in on itself, but she quickly straightened it out through sheer will. "Yes, that's probably the best thing to do for now. I should let the body rest. Yep, that's the best choice for now," Lucia reasoned. She then walked to their usual sleeping spot and carefully laid the body on the ground. Afterward, Lucia positioned herself, laying gently on Aleshia's stomach.
When morning arrived again, Lucia chose not to follow her usual routine with the body and let it rest a little longer. This change in pace allowed Lucia more time to think, but it didn't help ease her worries, which continued to weigh heavily on her mind. As the hours passed, she felt a persistent sense of guilt creeping in. Eventually, the familiar bells rang, pulling her back from the depths of her thoughts. Lucia trudged to Aleshia's head and wearily settled onto it, feeling the toll that her swirling thoughts had taken on her.
Lucia propped herself up and walked to her classroom, where she began tidying up. As she organized the room, she experienced a slight loss of control over her body. At first, she thought it was due to the continuous stress and anxiety she had been feeling. However, upon examining herself, she found no issues. But when she scrutinized the body, she noticed that the color representing Aleshia's soul was starting to regain its dominance. Recognizing this change, Lucia felt her worries begin to fade, knowing that Aleshia would soon be returning.
