Chapter 5 - The Wanderer/04

Oberynn Martell

Hearing someone say he is superior to you is different from him showing you how much so. Weeks have passed since the spar between Garrick and the foreigner but the effects still ripple across the all that witnessed it.

"Frog in the well, know how big the world is."

Frogs in a well indeed.

Even when he tried warning us of just how out of depth we are, we clung to our sensibilities. Deceived ourselves.

If his people land in Westeros with plans for conquest we are doomed. They even have intelligent dragons who can wield other forms of magic including fire.

We are lucky we are too weak to be in their eyes. If we were of any worth I know they would come in conquest instead.

After the duel he was accused of trying to murder the heir but they were silenced by Lord Dayne himself. The boy wanted to prove himself and failed. After that it seems they are more enthusiastic about marrying him into the Dayne family than before. We should have gotten him for ourselves, his blood even as a former commoner would have significantly improved the Martell line.

From what I can see Lord Dayne hopes the child of him and Ashara would one day become the mainline of their family. There is no way he would allow them become a branch house.

"We have arrived at the Red Keep,m'lord." said a mousy voice that belonged to one of the soldiers in our retinue said to me bringing my attention back to what was going on around.

Elia was still in a deep conversation with her handmaiden,Ashara Dayne whom she had hoped to use her hand to win one of the troublesome lords to their side with. Now bethrothed to a foreign magic knight who claims to have been weakened but is still the strongest warrior I have ever seen or faced.

"Must you tell the King? You know how he is. What if he orders his execution or worse tries to bind him to his side to regain magic?" Ashara said with a bit of urgency in her voice. She has gotten closer to the knight of the Moon recently. Has she forgotten where her loyalties should lie I wonder?

"If we don't and he finds out from his Spider it would be worse." I easily reply shutting her off. She was there when Elia spoke of the ruthlessness of the new Master of Whispers, Varys the Spider. The fact that he was popular in Ltd yet I still didn't know him was telling.A dangerous man who keeps his cards to his chest.

"Let's hope this goes well." Oberynn said to himself as he thought about the possible danger they are walking into.

It's not going well.

"So you claim that dragons still roam in your lands? That these dragons speak! That they would strange magics?! You take me for a fool?" exclaimed Aerys at me after the Martells and Daynes finished telling their version of the story to him.

I had stood in the halls making naught a sound as some nobles sneered at me. I decided to reveal a bit of my abilities.

"It's funny really." I said as I walked forward towards where Oberynn and Ashara stood a few metres away from the Iron Throne where Aerys sat sneering.

"Once magic was in these lands. Now it wanes. Not gone just weakened. Subdued. You have physical proof through dragons even if your wyverns are dead yet they were still here. I can even see the skull of the one you call Balerion in this very room."

"Yet you scoff at magic. You truly believe there is nothing to the West."

"You should be grateful. If the Lands Between were not so busy warring amongst ourselves amd keeping each other in check we would have long since asked the Ancient Dragons to dispel the Storm Triangle amd let us pass and invade your lands freely."

"You are all weak that it's not even funny. Your best knights will be barely a match for a new recruit in the armies of Caria. I see you all as a backwater country I am stuck in until I receive orders from my queen."

"I alone can slaughter everyone in this castle in an hour by myself even in this weakened state. You all laugh right? Let me give you something to laugh about."

"Project Bloodlust"

My mental magic has been improving in these lands as my more physical ones take too much energy to use for such a paltry display amongst this unwashed hillbillies.

A huge wave of dread spread out from me into the surrounding areas in an instant engulfing all of them in the aura of my bloodlust. Tempered by fighting and killing bandits, knights, monsters and Goodrich. It's not what these Westerosi can easily shrug off unlike others from The Academy in Caria.

Most of them in the hall fell to their knees hyperventilating, shaking profusely and wetting themselves either with piss or sweat. Most times both. The king staggered in his chair and fell on some swords which cut his back, arms and part of his face.

The only ones still standing were Barristan Selma,Arthur Dayne and Gerold Hightower although barely. Their knees looked like they could give out at anytime.

"This is how we fight in Caria. Projecting our bloodlust in battle so weaker foes can be taken out easily and quickly. Do not misunderstand… none of you hold any authority over me. I am an emissary from the Carian kingdom and I will be in your continent until the royal family come to introduce themselves."

"Know this. If you believe I am strong then you are wrong. My Lord can carve me up like a cake and the queen can straight up erase me in one attack. Be on your best behaviour and I will be on mine. Mock me again and I'll start ending bloodlines."

I let up the bloodlust and turned as I was walking out the door to go and find an inn to stay for now. I am already rethinking this engagement with Ashara. It's not worth it if I have to stay on these lands with these backwater has been a.

As I reached the door I turned back to see some of the men trying to stand up. Including Oberynn.I decided to leave on last message for them.

"Carve this memories into your bones so it would stop you from making any "wise" decisions."

With that I left the hall closing the door behind me.
