Chapter 56: Poor Guy

20 minutes later*

Note to self: Alucard needs her desire for battle to be fulfilled; otherwise, she becomes increasingly restless. It's a different kind of restlessness, though—more focused on death and murder, unlike with Momoyo, but still just as consuming.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Momoyo is possessive and jealous. She'll throw hands without hesitation to assert control, so it's best not to forget that.

As for Seras, I can't say much—I don't really know her all that well. Integra, though... she's a different story. She's more than just a headache, and honestly, I'm starting to think twice about what gave me the idea of being with her.

I glance at the unconscious form of Integra.

Right. Puberty. Fucking hate it.

I glance over at Momoyo, still tied up, locked in a glaring contest with Alucard. It's been nearly half an hour. Not a single word was exchanged—just a deadly stare-off. The hatred between them is perceptible, both of them raging for similar yet different reasons.

"Right, better call someone to fix this place..." I trail off as part of the walls separating the inside of the room from the outside finally give way, collapsing and revealing a massive gap that exposes the destroyed school infirmary to the outside world.

I let out a long, tired sigh, blinking as I see Sakamoto and Rion standing in the doorway, their faces filled with disbelief.

"What happened here?!" Rion's voice is the first to break the silence, and Sakamoto's eyes cut through the room, focusing first on Momoyo, then on Alucard, before finally landing on Integra near his feet.

"A big fight is what happened... and I don't think I was exactly the best person to stop it, not with my current state of mind." I mutter the last part under my breath. "Anyway, do either of you know a good repairman to come fix this place ASAP? Like, before the day ends?"

"Pretty sure those with magic or abilities that the average person doesn't have could fix this." Sakamoto replies, pulling out his phone from his right pocket. "Want me to call them? I know a couple of people who could do it for the right price."

I dig into my pocket, pulling out my coin to perform Divination. I channel Spirituality into it, flipping it into the air before snatching it mid-flight and reading the result. After putting the coin back in my pocket, I glance at Sakamoto.

"Yeah, go ahead and call them." I say, pausing for a second before adding. "Not like I'll be the one to fork over the money to pay the bill, though."

"And who's going to pay for it, then? Your previous lover here?" Rion points at Integra, still unconscious on the ground. "Because unless you just stood there and watched her get knocked out cold, I don't think she'll be chipping in. Also, what's with the number of women surrounding you right now? Half of them are conscious, the other half are out cold?"

I glance at Rion with a tired look. "Would you believe me if I said they all just showed up one after another in a short time frame while I was doing nothing?" I let out a sigh. "Because that's exactly what happened before the fight broke out." I then look at Integra, my gaze shifting to the revolver still in my hand and back to Rion. "Well, technically, I didn't just watch Integra get knocked out cold... I pistol-whipped her. Knocked her out cold myself."

Rion digs into her left ear with her pinky, blowing on her fingertip before nodding to herself.

"Right, I might've misheard you, but did you just say you pistol-whipped your old lover?" Rion gives me a grin.

"Nah, you heard right." I toss her the revolver, which she catches without missing a beat, and give me a deadpan stare.

"You know, we took our time coming here because we knew you could handle whatever was going on by the time we got here." Sakamoto says, finishing up a text before pocketing his phone. "But you do realize that more people from the supernatural side are bound to test our limits now that a fight's happened on public school grounds, right?"

"I'm sure we'll be fine." I wave off his concern, not really feeling like dwelling on it.

Hours later*

"Fuck." I mutter under my breath as I return from the Sefirah Castle, seeking a new set of Computational Divination results.

Even with the Fates temporarily sealed away, that doesn't mean people's IQs are going to drop, like in those novels where the main characters can just breeze through everything. This won't be as easy.

On another note, I've hit 100% completion with Sequence 9: Corpse Collector tonight... and obtained my second Uniqueness, the Death Pathway. Honestly, the pattern is starting to make itself pretty clear, especially since I already have the Sefirot: River of Eternal Darkness.

To think, I've collected two out of the seven things I need to become the Great Old One: Eternal Darkness.

I rub my forehead, baffled at my luck.

My gaze shifts over to Momoyo, peacefully asleep after a long day, resting in bed. On the other side of the bedroom lies a coffin, with Alucard asleep inside.

Holy shit, did my luck just turn that good or bad to obtain the very thing needed to kill Alucard? If that's the case, should I really kill her? I could still use her to deal with future foes I might have to face.

I glance back at the results from the recent Computational Divination.

Then, I walk over to the coffin with Alucard resting inside, picking it up effortlessly. I make my way to the door, open it, and with all my strength, I throw the coffin, sending Alucard flying into the night sky.

I shut the door behind me and gave myself a mental pat on the back, relieved I wouldn't have to deal with Momoyo and Alucard fighting in the morning. At least, not while I'm still asleep.

With that done, I head over to bed and slip under the covers next to Momoyo. The exhaustion from the day hits me as I settle in, and I allow myself to relax, knowing tomorrow's challenges are waiting. I close my eyes, trying to clear my mind, but sleep still comes easily enough. The weight of everything settles, but for now, I can put it all aside.

Tomorrow, I'll deal with whatever comes next.

The next day*

Still think we'll be fine?" Sakamoto raises an eyebrow, clearly amused.

We're standing outside, both of us trying to escape the chaos inside for a moment. Not that the outside is any better.

Rion's not far off, making quick work of a couple of delinquents who made the mistake of messing with her niece in her presence—the sounds of punches landing echo in the air.

In the opposite direction, Momoyo and Alucard are at it again. This time, it's not a physical fight but a fierce arm-wrestling contest on the ground, with a crowd of onlookers forming around them, cheering for their favorite competitor.

"Shut it." I scowl as I glance toward the front entrance. Students from the supernatural side of the world are beginning to arrive now, and I can already feel the trouble they will bring here.

"You know, this all could've easily been solved if you'd just listened to me." Sakamoto says casually, as if he's been waiting to say it.

I shoot him a side glance. "You didn't say shit. All you did was tell me the crew of repairmen would be here in half an hour, then you helped me send Integra and Seras off the school grounds with Rion carrying them away to who knows where. After that, we just went our separate ways."

I can't help but wonder if Sakamoto's starting to lose his mind. Unlike me, who's cursed with the madness of being a Beyonder.

"Oh right." Sakamoto slowly nods in acknowledgment, then falls into silence as if the conversation has already been decided.

"Excuse me, are you two teachers of this school?" A voice calls out.

We turn to find a slim teenage boy standing before us. He's of average height, with short, black-spiked hair and bluish-gray eyes, wearing a dark blue T-shirt, black pants, and red tennis shoes.

"I'm Tachibana Rintaro, a first-year student. I'd like to know where the school infirmary is. I need to speak with the school nurse about my health condition." He introduces himself, holding a folder in his hand while glancing around nervously.

Before I can say anything, Sakamoto points at me with a casual wave. "He is the school nurse."

Rintaro's eyes light up with excitement as he hands me the folder, which I take with a nod, shooting Sakamoto a stink eye in the process. He completely ignores it, as usual.

I open the folder, and sure enough, just as I found out last night through Computational Divination, I feel a pang of pity for Rintaro. His disease is worse than I expected.

Henisei Tashu Ijo Syndrome, more commonly known as Hentai Syndrome, is an extremely rare condition that puts the heart under immense stress whenever the carrier becomes sexually aroused. With the little medical knowledge available on the subject, the only way to avoid its lethal consequences is to live a life without sexual stimuli.

I have no idea if anyone in the supernatural world has a cure for such a crazy disease. My Computational Divination results only gave me a list of people who had died from it in the past.

Not even a cure for poor Rintaro here.

"Quick question... why did you decide to enroll in this school?" I close the folder and hand it back to Rintaro, but pause midway. I might need to keep it, being the school nurse and all.

Rintaro answers, looking a bit more confident now, "I'd heard that the students here exhibit a strong sense of pride and respect for their school, often showing care for their principal and teachers. Not to mention, more than half of the students are men."

Sakamoto gives me an eyebrow raise, his eyes darting around at everything happening in the vicinity before they lock back onto me.

"Right..." I trail off, trying to figure out the best way to break this to him. "Student Rintaro, I might have some bad news for you."

"Am I in trouble?" Rintaro frowns, looking genuinely concerned. "I just arrived here. I know I'm a bit late for class, but I notice many students aren't in class yet."

"Not quite." I suppress the urge to rub my forehead in frustration at Rintaro's lack of common sense. "You came at the worst time to enroll in this school."

"Why do you say that?" Rintaro blinks, clearly confused.

I glance past him toward the front entrance just in time to spot a couple of female students walking in, their tight clothes accentuating their figures in a way that could easily fuel fantasies among men.

"Because you're going to have to deal with many female students..." I let the sentence hang in the air, not needing to finish it.

Damn it, I just know Momoyo is going to have a fit—probably more than she did with Alucard today.
