Clarisse had no idea why he was upset again. She didn't ask. Instead, she simply held Agente in her arms and walked out silently. After handing the child over to the maid, she poured a glass of water, grabbed the medicine, and went upstairs.
But to her surprise, she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom. Through the frosted glass, the silhouette of a tall, lean man was clearly outlined.
A faint flush crept up her cheeks as she knocked on the bathroom door.
"Are… are you planning to stay in this room?"
She thought she had already asked the servants to prepare another room for him.
The water stopped. A displeased voice rang out from inside.
"Where else should I stay?"
Clarisse didn't respond. She walked in, placed the glass and medicine down, then quietly stripped the bed of the sheets she and Agente had used. From the closet, she pulled out a fresh set and remade the bed for him. If he wanted to stay here, so be it. She'd just sleep elsewhere with Agente.
