"What do we want to do? Kidnap you?" Brother Jie was stunned by Qin Feng's accusation. This kid's way of thinking was certainly unique. Wasn't he supposed to be overjoyed at the news of having a living relative? This wasn't how the script was supposed to go!
"Hahaha, very good, you're quite alert. But I'm your cousin, and I mean you no harm. Besides, what could anyone possibly want with a little guy like you?" A voice suddenly came from the helmet Qin Feng was holding—it was William. "Yin Yang, take them to the hotel."
"Understood, Boss," Brother Jie replied, covering his ear and nodding.
Hearing Qin Feng accuse Brother Jie of trying to kidnap him, Qin Hanh quickly walked over to protect Qin Feng, wrapping her arms around his head. Just as she was about to question them, William's voice sounded from the helmet.
"Cousin? Xiao Feng, do you have a cousin? And this thing can make calls?" Qin Hanh asked, bewildered, waiting a few seconds before adding, "Why isn't anyone talking now?"
Brother Jie smiled and reassured them, "Don't worry, kid. We mean no harm. My boss really is your cousin. If we had any ill intentions, we wouldn't be doing this in public. Besides, your grandparents and aunt are right here with you. You'll understand everything soon."
Qin Feng glanced at his grandparents and aunt, who were all around him protectively, and nodded, still somewhat dazed.
Seeing that Qin Feng wasn't scared anymore, Brother Jie continued, "Also, this is the busiest commercial street in Shen City. There are at least 16 patrol posts, four police stations, and a squad of armed police in the area. Only a madman would try something bad here."
Qin Hanh, having a good impression of Brother Jie and realizing he had a point—only a crazy person would try something shady in such a public place—hesitated for a moment before agreeing, "Xiao Feng, I think he's right."
Brother Jie gave her a grateful look and then turned to Qin Feng and his grandparents. "Please follow me. This isn't the best place to talk."
Qin Feng's grandfather looked at the high-tech helmet in Qin Feng's hands, which resembled something out of a sci-fi novel. He then glanced around at the five or six foreigners in suits surrounding them. He realized that if they had ill intentions, they wouldn't need to go to such lengths. Clearly, the goal was a private meeting with his grandson, and they hadn't expected Qin Feng to throw off their plans with his unpredictable behavior.
Thinking back to last year when the authorities had informed them that Qin Feng's father had died in the line of duty, it all started to make sense. If this man truly was Qin Feng's cousin, then everything fit together. With that in mind, Qin Feng's grandfather nodded at Brother Jie and said, "Alright, let's go. I'd like to see who Xiao Feng's cousin really is."
Seeing that the Qin family agreed, Brother Jie happily signaled to the bodyguards behind him, who then spoke into their wrist microphones. Soon, four black Mercedes-Benz cars appeared outside the restaurant.
The group drove to the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Shen City. Once they arrived, Qin Feng's grandparents, aunt, and even Qin Feng himself felt fully at ease. After all, this was the most prestigious hotel in the city—only a fool would try anything bad here.
"Good evening, Mr. Li," the hotel's suite manager greeted Brother Jie as soon as they entered the lobby.
Following William's instructions, Brother Jie hadn't gone out of his way to hide his presence during this trip to the Celestial Empire. He stayed at the most central hotel in Shen City and hadn't avoided being observed while watching Qin Feng over the past few days.
On the 85th floor, Brother Jie waved the manager away. Qin Hanh, amazed by the 240-degree panoramic suite, couldn't help but ask curiously, "How much does it cost to stay here for a night?"
"Uh…" Brother Jie was stumped by the question. The suite had been booked by Sunday. "Sorry, Ms. Qin, the hotel was booked by my boss's personal assistant, so I'm not sure of the cost."
"Please, make yourselves comfortable," Brother Jie said, noticing that Qin Hanh had more questions. He quickly invited them to sit down. After the Qin family took their seats, watching curiously, Brother Jie placed the helmet in the middle of the living room and pressed a button. Suddenly, beams of light shot out from the helmet, and within moments, the room transformed. It was like magic—a lavish European-style castle living room appeared before their eyes.
Qin Feng, his grandparents, and Qin Hanh were left speechless by the sight. Then, the figure of a well-dressed young man, appearing to be in his twenties, materialized in the room.
"Good evening, everyone. My name is William Devonshire, and this is my home, Devonshire Castle. To clear up any confusion right away, let me explain. My father was Chen Jing, my uncle was Chen Li, and my grandfather was Chen Guofu. So, by blood and by seniority, I'm Xiao Feng's cousin."
"Cousin?" Qin Feng's grandfather was taken aback. When had the Chen family had such a wealthy descendant? After thinking for a moment, he tried to remain calm. "Are you really the son of the Chen family's eldest, the one my father-in-law used to talk about?"
"If you're referring to this gentleman," William said with a snap of his fingers, projecting a photo of the old Mr. Chen, "then yes, I am the son of the Chen family's eldest."
"That's right, that's Chen Guofu! My goodness, I never imagined that after all these years with no news, the Chen family's eldest would have such a grown child," Qin Feng's grandfather exclaimed in surprise. After a moment of excitement, he grew suspicious. "Wait a minute. If you're still alive, why haven't you returned all these years?"
"Apologies, Mr. Qin," William replied. "My father, Chen Jing, passed away in an accident in Switzerland 20 years ago. I was raised by my mother, Lena Devonshire. After I was born, she tried to find my father's relatives, but for various reasons, she was unsuccessful. It wasn't until a few days ago, when some people from the Celestial Empire contacted me, that I learned I still had family here. So, Xiao Feng is indeed my cousin, and if anyone were to say otherwise, they'd be in serious trouble."
"That makes sense. If people from back home sought you out, it means they regard you highly. If you were mistaken, someone would definitely be in trouble. Besides, we don't have anything worth the interest of a wealthy foreign tycoon like you," Qin Feng's grandfather agreed with William. "Xiao Feng, call him big brother."
"I… I… Big, big, big brother," Qin Feng stammered, glancing at the encouraging looks from his grandparents. Then, all of a sudden, his stammer vanished as he asked, "If you really are my brother, do you know how my father died? Was he really a martyr, like they said, or was he a bad guy?"
"Xiao Feng!" his grandfather quickly interrupted. "Your father was definitely a martyr."
"Haha, it's alright, Mr. Qin," William said, turning to Sunday. "Sunday, bring up what you found. This kid is still young, so leave out anything unnecessary."
"Understood, sir," Sunday responded, and soon, information about Chen Li appeared in the projection. With a clear objective in hand, it didn't take Sunday long to gather the facts. After confirming that Chen Li had indeed died a hero, both Qin Feng and Qin Hanh broke down in tears.
Once Qin Feng had calmed down a bit, still wiping away his tears, he asked, "If you really are my brother, and you've been able to find me, then you must know who killed my father, right?"
"Of course. Even though I never met him, Chen Li was my uncle, and that fact can't be changed. I absolutely had to find out who was responsible," William nodded.
"Then will you help me avenge him?" Qin Feng asked, his voice trembling.
