It was that thought that refused to let her off, refused to let her go back to her forced mild yet stern personality that had helped her build an impeccable reputation in the Judiciary. She parked her car on the side of the road and began to cry again. She wailed and hammered fists on the steering wheel and held her hair. Squeezing till it hurt.
She cried as reality set in, there was no way she was going to be the same again, ever. She calmed down and watched the street, drinking in the chaos around her . Some part of her panicked when a car , a few feet from her, went up in flames as people celebrated and laughed maniacally. She swerved back and began to drive away, heading straight for home. However, a roadblock and six men heavily armed passing her temporarily made her stop. The surrounding fires casting flickers of light against the men and for a moment, cast a light upon the man in the middle the group. She stopped.
