Chapter 4140: Time to Go Home
Lin Moyu entered the core of the world over a dozen times, gaining some insight into the Innate Divine Runes, but he was still far from fully comprehending them. He discovered a unique trait: the Innate Divine Runes couldn't be memorized they could only be understood through personal enlightenment. These runes seemed to be in a constant state of change, and each one could independently evolve into a natural grand formation. Moreover, these natural formations could cooperate with each other. To truly gain something, one would have to spend a hundred years or more studying them in that place.
Returning to the Candle Dragon statue, Lin Moyu sensed the boiling, refined filth power within. After so many rounds of purification, this filth no longer felt dirty at all. It was clearly the filthiest thing in the world, yet it didn't feel dirty a strange sensation.
"When water is too clear, there are no fish."
Lin Moyu chuckled and said to the statue, "I'm heading back, but I don't want to take the underground tunnel. Can you give me a ride?"
Lin Moyu was shameless he knew Candle Dragon could hear him. Sure enough, within five seconds, Candle Dragon's voice came from the statue: "Did you see the secret of the world?"
Lin Moyu replied, "I saw it, but just looking isn't enough. I need to go in myself someday. I'm curious, you should be able to enter, right? Why don't you study it maybe you could become the Lord of Heaven and Earth."
Candle Dragon said, "The limits of the world that's not my path."
Lin Moyu asked, "Did you learn your formations from there?"
Candle Dragon denied it. "Innate talent."
Lin Moyu blurted out, "I'm jealous."
To think Candle Dragon was born with what others spend a lifetime chasing as their starting point. Candle Dragon sighed, "No need to be jealous. I was born strong, but have no path forward. Your formation skills already surpass mine." Everything has pros and cons; those born strong, like Candle Dragon, find the road ahead hard or even impassable. Cultivators, born weak, can go far. This is the fairness of the world.
Lin Moyu said, "Heaven always leaves a way. You've found your own path maybe you'll transcend one day."
Candle Dragon laughed softly, "You never know until you try. Wait until you reach Eternity."
As he spoke, a beam of light shot from the statue's eyes, enveloping Lin Moyu in extremely pure filth power. The power was so strong that touching it could kill him instantly. It wrapped around him, turning him into a stream of light that shot into the Dao Cloud, flying toward the Hengduan Mountains.
He sped through the Dao Cloud, and in just half a day, Lin Moyu emerged, the filth power dissipating, and he saw the Hengduan Mountains. Crossing the Great Wilderness was child's play for Candle Dragon. If he wanted, Candle Dragon could easily wipe out the wild beasts. But for years, he had used them to gather filth power for himself. To obtain even purer filth, Candle Dragon used the natural formation of 108 filth pools, modifying it to create nine even stronger special pools. These special pools seemed to benefit the wild beasts, allowing for mutated beast evolution, but their real purpose was to refine purer filth for Candle Dragon himself. The wild beasts were just tools; Candle Dragon was the real chess master, treating even the Eternals as pawns. Even the Spirit Demon Clan was used as part of his transcendence plan. Candle Dragon surely knew they were not natives, so he used them too. Compared to the Lord of Curses, Candle Dragon's schemes were larger and longer lasting.
Back at the Hengduan Mountains, Lin Moyu was greeted with joy by An Yuyan and the others. An Yuyan was especially happy: "You're back." Seeing Lin Moyu safe, she beamed.
"Congratulations, Lin Daoist, on your return."
"I'm sure you gained something from this trip."
After a few greetings, Lin Moyu checked the projection he'd left behind: Tun Yuan and the Soulless Beast were fighting the Dao wild beasts. It wasn't really a battle more like a one sided slaughter. Compared to a few years ago, both had grown much stronger. The Dao wild beasts were dying in droves, either shattered and absorbed by Tun Yuan or purified by the Soulless Beast.
An Yuyan whispered, "You might not know, but they've gotten a lot stronger recently. They even clashed with the Beast Emperors not a total victory, but the Beast Emperors clearly can't do anything about them now." She didn't realize Lin Moyu could sense the Soulless Beast and had a good idea of their strength.
Lin Moyu said, "There must be a lot fewer wild beasts in the Great Wilderness now."
An Yuyan replied, "About half as many as before. But the mutated beast seems even stronger, and the Beast Emperors are clearly planning something."
The Beast Emperors wouldn't just take a beating forever they were bound to act. The deaths of ordinary Dao wild beasts didn't matter to them, just as Candle Dragon didn't care about the Beast Emperors. As long as they could kill Tun Yuan and the Soulless Beast, the wild beast numbers would recover quickly.
Lin Moyu said, "Whatever the Beast Emperors are planning, we just need to be ready. I confirmed there are eight special pools left in the Great Wilderness core, but it's very hard for the Beast Emperors to create another mutated beast. They had to sacrifice themselves to make the current one, and it took a hundred years to recover. Until this mutated beast fully evolves, they can't make another, so we don't need to worry for now. If the Beast Emperors act, it's likely they'll target the Spirit Demon Clan."
An Yuyan said, "That's our analysis too. We have the Hengduan Mountains and your formations if they attack us, they probably won't win. And if they make too much noise, the Spirit Clan will step in and slow them down."
"The real question is, if they attack the Spirit Demon Clan, should we help?"
Lin Moyu said, "No unless the Spirit Demon Clan asks for help, we don't need to intervene."
Old Yin head said, "The Spirit Demon Clan used to help us hold off the Beast Emperors they're half our allies. Is it really right not to help?"
Lin Moyu said, "They are allies, but they have their own motives. They didn't help us out of pure goodwill. In fact, our 621 Great Dao Lords died because of them that debt will have to be settled someday."
After talking with Candle Dragon, Lin Moyu knew what to do. In truth, there was no need to worry about the wild beasts. Even if all the Eternals left, the wild beasts would never devour the Dao, because Candle Dragon wouldn't allow it. He would be punished if he intervened, but he could wipe out the Beast Emperors and take the punishment, leaving the wild beasts crippled.
As for the Spirit Demon Clan, Lin Moyu thought it was time for them to go home after so many years in exile.
