Chapter 58 - Kellan POV
I run my fingers slowly through the thick waves of her hair, each strand slipping between my knuckles like silk. Ember is draped across my chest like she wants to become part of me, every inch of her warm, soft body pressed against mine.
Today was the third day of the pack gathering—a seemingly endless parade of politics, power plays, and overly long discussions with pack alphas. Borders. Trade routes. Law amendments. Suggestions about neutral grounds. So much talking. So much nodding. I barely survived it.
Ember traces lazy circles across my chest, and her voice is low and teasing.
"So how was it? You were locked in from morning and only released an hour ago. It's 9 p.m., love."
I groan, rolling my eyes and shifting beneath her. The movement earns a pleased hum from her, but it also causes her to tighten around me. I hiss softly. She feels so good, too good, and she knows it. She's toying with me.
"It was exhausting," I grumble.
