*The next day after Colt and Luna return home*
[scene : Colt and Luna sitting in their room on the bed side by side, looking at the sea. Edwin is asleep in his crib]
*Colt uses a soundproof barrier*
Colt [putting his arm around Luna's shoulder] : "Did you have fun?"
Luna[resting her head on his chest] : "Yeah, lots of it. We helped a lot of people, They were happy, and so was I. Thank you"
Colt : "For what?"
Luna : "For helping... and... for letting me help too, I was so happy when you asked me to help."
Colt [with a bit of concern] : "Wasn't it exhausting for you though?"
Luna [moving her head sideways] : "No, I was happy and I had you with me."
Colt : "I'll always be with you."
*After a few seconds of silence*
Colt : "So, what do you want to do today?"
Luna : "You promised you'd train me, remember?"
Colt : "You just learned about nitrogen three weeks ago? And nitrates about 5 days ago... aren't you tired?"
Luna [with determination] : "No, I want to get stronger, I want to learn more."
Colt [sighs] : "What do you want to learn about?"
Luna : "You're the one who knows, but I am curious about this "electricity". What does it do?"
Colt : "Oh yeah, I never talk about it, do I?"
Luna : "No."
Colt [taking a deep breath] : "You asked for it, get ready because this summer, I'll fill your head with knowledge beyond this world."
[montage]
[scene : sun rises on the castle, the rooms are empty, the kitchen is empty, Edwin is asleep in their room in his crib, the view moves down the elevator, to the secret lab. Colt and Luna come into view, Colt holding a light bulb, turning it on and off, talking, Luna nodding]
[scene : the sun is in the middle of the sky, Colt, Luna and Edwin are watching the sea]
[scene : the sun is setting, the three of them are dinning]
[scene: Colt and Luna are in the living room, Colt holding a chunk of charcoal]
Colt : "Today I'll be teaching you about carbon. It's what makes diamonds and charcoal. Now touch it, and sense what I'm doing."
*Luna places her hand on the charcoal and closes her eyes, Colt rearranges the structure, it turns into a diamond*
*Luna opens her eyes*
Luna : "So that's how you do it."
Colt : "Carbon is so much more than that. Carbon, hydrogen and oxygen... those three elements are the basis of organic matter… that includes living beings. Moreover, you now know about nitrogen. By manipulating these four you can do unimaginable things."
*Colt takes another chunk of charcoal out of his item box, hands it to Luna*
Colt : "Now you try."
*Luna takes a lot longer, but the charcoal does turn into a diamond. Luna's face turns pale, her breathing becomes heavy*
What the… "magic sight"
*Luna's usually dense aura is now much lighter*
Colt [as he does a mana transfer] : "Sorry, I didn't expect it'd take such a toll."
*Luna's face regains its color, but her breathing's still heavy*
Luna : "Did I ... do it?"
Colt [examines the diamond] : "It's perfect *pats her on the head* you did a great job today, I'm proud of you."
[scene : Colt and Luna watching Edwin as he tries standing using furniture for support, Edwin is growing blonde hair]
He's still at 6 months 3 weeks!
[scene :as the sun rises, Luna walks outside the castle and into the empty space they once used as an arena to find Colt surrounded by shiny lances piercing the ground. Colt, eyes closed, is focusing on creating another one using chunks of different metals in his hands]
Luna : "Good morning, Colt."
*The lance is done, it falls into Colt's lap, Colt opens his eyes, looks at Luna*
Colt [smiling] : "Good morning, Luna."
Luna : "What are you doing?"
Colt : "Making an unusual weapon."
Unusual is right; titanium, aluminum,Molybdenum and silicon... that's the alloy I based this on.
However, I added some scandium and manipulated its structure to make it finer as well as uniformly arranging the traces of carbon and oxygen.
And by using a tungsten carbide tip, we have a weapon capable of destroying the titanium golems.
Colt : "I know you just woke up, but I'm curious... can you move these*points at the lances* with earth magic?"
Luna: "Let me try."
*The lances are removed from the ground, Luna rotates them around her.*
Colt [smiles] : "Perfect."
*Luna puts the lances in a neat pile, turns to Colt*
Luna [smiling] : "What made you so happy?"
Colt [laughing] : "I'll tell you after we eat, you'll need it."
*Heads to the castle*
[scene : Colt and Luna are outside the walls. Colt creates a titanium golem and uses "static" on it]
Colt : "Remember this guy?"
Luna : "I sure do."
Colt : "The metal it's made from is called titanium, it's one of the strongest, most durable metals, that's why you've never managed to directly pierce it."
*Takes one of the lances from the item box.*
Colt : "Try it with this."
Luna [in unwavering belief, as she's positioning the lance] : "If you say it'll work…"
*The lance is launched at the golem. It pierces it in the torso, hitting the core.*
*They both remain silent, watching it for a few seconds.*
Luna : "Is it... dead?"
Colt : "You tell me... I stopped the spell a while ago."
Luna : "WHAT?"
*Colt laughs*
Luna [pouty] : "You can be really mean sometimes."
*Colt laughs harder*
[scene : Edwin taking a few steps from a sofa to a chair]
Luna [with a voice full of excitement and moving ears] : "Look, Colt, at this rate, he'll walk soon."
*Edwin looks at them with a blank stare*
So he does understand what we're saying and he's not as happy as we are.
[scene : Colt showing Luna how to cast item box]
[scene : Edwin finally walking around]
Nine months... that's the earliest he could walk. But he's still silent.
[end of montage]
[scene : Colt and Luna are sitting on the bed, Colt holding Edwin, the door is open]
Colt : "Tomorrow, we return to the academy. Did you have fun? Or did I push you too much?"
Luna[smiles] : "I was happy, I feel a little closer to you now*holds Edwin, speaks in doting mother tone* but it's too bad we have to leave little Edwin. You're going to stay with your grandparents."
*Edwin shows no reaction whatsoever*
Luna : "You're happy about that, aren't you?"
Colt [surprised, looking closely at Edwin] : "Really?"
Luna : "He's happy,*to Edwin* who's happy? You are."
Probably because of the way you're treating him. Problem is... I bet Mark and Clarissa are way more doting... poor guy.
Colt : "Oh yeah, I have something for you."
*Luna looks attentively*
*Colt opens his item box*
Colt : "It took longer than expected but..."
*Colt takes out a pearl necklace, the necklace is made of white and black pearls, arranged one after the other, the white pearls shine brightly and the allure of the black ones is unmistakable*
Colt [as he puts it around her neck] : "I promised I'd make you one. And now I'm happy to present it."
Luna [touching it] : "It's beautiful, thank you, Colt"
*Edwin squirms, Luna gently puts him down on the floor, Edwin walks outside the room*
*Colt and Luna just look at him exiting the room with stunned looks on their faces*
Did he just...?
*Colt couldn't help but laugh*
