When they reached the bakery, Alex motioned for the thief to show him the spot where the money was hidden. The man, still with his head hung low, led them to the back of the building and pointed to a weathered floorboard near the door.
"There," he said, his voice almost a whisper.
Alex knelt down, prying the floorboard up easily, revealing a small sack stuffed with gold coins. He held it up, nodding to himself.
"Looks like the vendor will get his money back," Alex said, satisfied.
Lumi stepped forward, her eyes wide at the sight of the sack of gold. "Wow, that's a lot of money!" she exclaimed, clearly impressed.
"All in a day's work," Alex said with a shrug, tossing the sack into his pack. "Let's head back."
The thief stood quietly, his hands raised in surrender. He knew there was no escaping now.
Alex crossed his arms, his gaze steady on the thief. "Hey, where did you steal all this from?" he asked, his tone sharp but not unkind.
