"But... your mom was supposed to live for at least another decade, so how did she suddenly fall ill and die in less than a year?"
Chen Zhi's heart skipped a beat; she realized this was indeed abnormal.
"I also suspect something is amiss, but I don't understand and can't see anything. Doctor, can you tell what's wrong?"
The doctor looked at her gravely, "The only thing I can tell is that the heart transplanted to your mom has a problem."
"A problem?!" Chen Zhi was shocked, her face turning pale instantly. The heart was found by Si Ye, who said it was a freshly located donor heart. How could there be an issue?
"Could it be that the heart itself carried a virus? Or cancer cells or something?" Chen Zhi couldn't help but speculate.
The doctor shook his head, "There's no virus, and no cancer cells either. If there were, it would have been detected when your mom passed away. This heart, perhaps, wasn't a fresh donor heart."
Chen Zhi froze, recalling the words of a doctor back then.
