[3rd POV]
"Ga-Galactus!?" Carol exclaimed, paleing drastically as she heard the name. Everyone in the universe that had even the smallest bit of information and knowledge, knew the name of Galactus, and what he had represented, what his arrival had meant.
He was the comer of death and destruction, the end of worlds, the eater and consumer. One of the most powerful beings in the entire universe, one that has never been successfully stopped, not by anyone, not even Gods.
"Indeed. He's been sighted on his way towards this solar system. He has been consuming planets as he has been. We're not entirely sure when he will be here, but I'm estimating we have three months at the very most, and then it will be time. And that is not even considering his herald, who will likely appear here before then" Gwen replied, not very happy with this information.
She was hoping to have around six months until the arrival of Galactus, and not three. The city, and Earth, were not ready for his arrival. And if they didn't start working together soon, it was likely that she would have to speak with the All Father and the other Skyfathers about getting aid in fighting back the Eater of Worlds.
Whether or not they would actually help them was an entirely different matter. As while they had plenty of worshippers on Earth, they might not be willing to sacrifice their own people in order to save Earth from being consumed. That, and they quite literally CANNOT kill Galactus.
He was a universal force that MUST live, for if he died...a much worse counterpart will arrive, one that even Gwen cannot hope to defeat, not at her current level. He was basically a concept given form that was made to balance the universe, almost like a God of Destruction from Dragon Ball Super. Both of them destroy planets so the universe is not overrun with too many people, too many planets.
Gwen respected the job, as she knew it was necessary. But that didn't mean she was about to let him destroy Earth. Afterall, there were no rules about what planets he HAD to consume. And Earth was far too important to this reality to allow its destruction.
If she had to she was even willing to call upon the power of the weapons she has amassed so far, and the M'kraan crystal. She just hoped it wouldn't come to that, as they were meant for Knull, who in her eyes was far far more dangerous than Galactus ever could be. Well, at least the Eater of Worlds Galactus.
Galactus wasn't just the eater of worlds, either. He was also eventually going to become the "Lifebringer" , the one who would seed the worlds of the universe, bringing forth more life than he ever consumed. At least, that was what was to happen from what Gwen knew. In this form, he was also far far stronger, one of the most powerful beings in the entire multiverse, on the same scale as the higher echelons of the multiverse.
"Wha-How do you know this?" Carol asked, all previous beliefs regarding Gwen and the council gone, as she realized that this...this was far more important. Even she, a hardcore localist to her Government, knew that the likes of Galactus would need all of them working together.
"I have many different means, Miss Danvers. Technology is only one of the ways I have been tracking the Eater of Worlds. It is due to this that I know that he is coming to Earth, and that we are not ready. If we wish to truly be able to defeat the Eater of worlds, and force his attention to a different planet, then we must work together" Gwen began, before continuing, noticing the way Carol was focusing on her entirely.
"I...I agree. I'll have to talk with Fury, I'll have to make sure he understands what's at stake. What the arrival of Galactus means...and I'll have to get into contact with Thor, he'll want to be involved" Carol said, nodding.
"Good. The God of Thunder will be an excellent boon to our...alliance. I'd have preferred his father to help, but I doubt the old man will get involved personally. I've already developed several weapons that should be able to do quite a bit of damage to him, as long as we can get him into the right positions. As they are rather...destructive, so he'll have to be far from Earth in order for them to work" Gwen responded, Carol's eyes widening at this piece of information.
Making a weapon that can actually harm the Eater of Worlds was..not a small feat, not at all. It was something that not even the likes of the Shi'Ar Empire could say they had accomplished, which meant that Gwen and her city was far stronger and more advanced than even Carol had expected.
It also meant they were a lot more dangerous. But at the moment that didn't matter.
"And how will the little council on Earth react to our presence? To the power we possess? To the technology? Will they even accept our aid in defeating Galactus?" Magneto asked on the side, as the council all turned to Carol. It was a genuinely important question, and one that Gwen knew would be very obvious.
"It won't matter what the council thinks. Not when it comes to someone...something like Galactus. We'll make sure they let you help us, trust me on that" Carol replied with a steeled look in her eye, determined. She knew that the council was...rather racist towards mutants, but they'd need them for this situation, they couldn't afford to fight over race, not right now.
"...Good, we'll hold you to that" Gwen said, as the council nodded. None of them wanted to work with the world council of Earth, but they all knew that it was a necessity at this point.
"...is there anything else? Or can I go? I need to alert Earth of this so they can start to prepare" Carol asked, as they all looked at one another, before shaking their head, as Carol got to her feet.
"...Thank you for warning us, Miss Wayne" Carol said, as she was led out of the room by 7734, leaving the council alone once more.
"What are the chances that the World Council will attempt to attack us? Or will try to get something out of us in return for supposedly "Helping us"?" The Scott Summers of another world asked, an older Scott that had been leading his X-Men for decades.
The other members just looked at him as Gwen sighed "It's all but guaranteed. They are a bunch of greedy old coots that care more about money and power than anything else. Even after being told that their world is under threat of being consumed by a nigh-omnipotent entity, they will still try to squeeze wealth out of us" Gwen replied, knowing how this was about to go.
"Great...just great. We've got a world eater on his way and they're going to try and make us pay them for helping them. Like that makes any goddamn sense" The Logan of another world grumbled, annoyed with this entire situation. He wasn't the only one though, as pretty much the entire council, even Xavier who was usually quite peaceful, was irritated with the entire situation, knowing that this was going to be a very annoying few days.
"And what are we going to do if they do try to get anything out of us?"
"We ignore them and do it ourselves. We don't exactly need their help, it will just make this entire process far easier, and much safer. And it isn't them that we need to help us, it's the Avengers and their allies. The World Council means nothing to us" Gwen replied, as truthfully it was the Avengers she wanted to get the aid of. The World Council were simply the ones in charge of the movement of the Avengers, or at least, they try to be.
At these words, several more grunts of annoyance echoed through the room, as they all had one thought on their mind, even Xavier and Gwen.
'...Fuck Politics'
