The airport we arrived at was massive, bustling with taxis and cars pulling up out front, people coming and going in waves, and planes landing and taking off in the distance.
We took a taxi to get there, and I carried both my own suitcase and my mother's, while my father handled his. In truth, our bags were mostly for show—thanks to my inventory ability, we didn't need to carry much. The luggage was just part of the disguise.
My father held my mother's right hand, and I held her left. It was my first time at an airport—in either of my lives—so I was a bit curious, even if I had already seen far stranger things thanks to the system.
"Adrian, stay close to us," my mother reminded me again. "I know it's unlikely anyone could kidnap you, given your strength and skills, but you could still get lost… Better safe than sorry."
I simply nodded. With my Observation Haki and enhanced senses—not to mention the bees—it was nearly impossible for me to get lost.
After arriving, we checked in and passed through baggage screening.
While we waited for my aunt to arrive, I wandered over to a nearby candy shop. I left one of my bees with my parents so I could stay connected and track them, just in case. Meanwhile, they were busy enjoying their little romantic moment.
Inside the store, a friendly cashier greeted me with a warm smile.
"Hi there, young man! What can I get you today?"
I returned her smile and put on my most innocent expression, pointing at a variety of sweets—some banana-shaped, others orange-flavored like gummy bears, and a rainbow of jelly beans.
She chuckled softly and packed them into eco-friendly paper bags stamped with the Monka Factory logo—a world-famous candy brand. (Yes, that Monka Factory. Who caught the reference?)
But just as I left the shop, two strange men approached.
"Well hey there, kid! Got yourself some candy? Wanna come with us and get even more?"
"Yeah, we've got tons of sweet stuff," the other added, grinning.
I glanced at them, scanning with my Haki. No unusual energy. Just regular humans. Judging by how cliché this was, it had to be a sloppy kidnapping attempt.
So, I smiled.
"Sure! Where's the candy?"
As I played along, I slipped a hand into my pocket and quietly sent a message to my father. He'd probably alert security soon… Still, I chose to follow them. Ignoring this might mean some other kid would be targeted next.
Then, a notification appeared in my mind:
[New Mission: Kidnappers at the Airport]
Objective: Ensure the kidnappers are arrested.
Reward: 60 system coins; Class E Skill (Hunter World) – Mimetic Voice
Description: You're at an airport, and some men are trying to kidnap you. What are you going to do about it?
I paused for five seconds before one of them called out.
"Hey, kid?"
"Oh! Sorry, I just got distracted," I said casually, keeping up the act.
I smiled and continued walking. I hadn't expected a mission, but the reward was solid—especially the skill. It seemed even better than the voice-mimicry techniques I'd read about in Tunisia.
They led me outside, toward a more secluded area near a van. Honestly, they weren't even trying to hide how shady this was.
"So, where's the candy, uncles?" I asked sweetly.
"Cough, cough… It's inside the van," one said, while the other opened the door.
I stepped closer and spotted a third man in the driver's seat.
"I don't see any candy, uncle," I replied with a naive smile.
"Don't worry—"
"Is this a kidnapping?" I interrupted bluntly.
They froze.
One of them looked like he was about to lie, but the other one gave up the act.
"Forget it. Yeah, brat, it's a kidnapping. Now shut up, or we'll cut out your tongue."
He pulled out a knife, waving it menacingly.
Too late.
I'd already started recording the conversation. With a flick of my finger in my pocket, I saved the audio and stashed the candy in my bag for safekeeping.
Then, I grinned.
"Thanks for saying that so clearly."
"Wha—?!"
Before he could react, I dashed forward, leapt up, and slammed a powerful kick into his forehead and chest. He flew back, crashing into the van door and slumping unconscious.
The second man froze in shock. I launched myself at him next, landing four rapid punches to his face and skull. He staggered, teeth flying from his mouth.
"You little—!"
He bit his tongue, trying to recover, but I spun and kicked him square in the jaw. He crumpled instantly.
The third man—the driver—was now frozen in panic, unsure whether to drive away or run.
Didn't matter.
I'd already sent the audio recording.
Seconds later, the van doors were yanked open. The driver was forcefully dragged out by two officers, and I was swept into my father's arms.
"Son!"
