The light in the room was dim. The curtains were drawn, blocking any sign of sunshine, which was why they relied on candles and lamps instead.
A large four-poster bed took the center of the even larger room. Every piece of furniture spoke well to the wealth of its owner, polished to a mirror and padded with velvet.
The said owner was unfortunately unable to leave his own bed, however, and lounge on any of them.
Surrounding the bed were several people, all clad in extravagant clothes befitting the nobles. One, however, stood out with his simple attire, for physicians had no need to dress up while on the job. And the man doubted that any kind of clothes would ever change the way those people looked at him.
Even more when he would be having to break some sad news.
