The moon was high in the sky when he reached the spot. Any sign that it had once been a magical gate was thoroughly removed, thus, no one would get to investigate those catacombs.
It was better that way. That place was secret for a reason, for not all magicians had the right to access it, and few had the power to raise its key from underneath the sand.
Whether those left within had managed to get out or not before he sealed it didn't concern him.
He, however, was concerned about the grimoire. He wished he could have gotten it before closing the catacombs. He knew that it would be hidden by the Jinn and appear again before a new holder eventually, perhaps in a library or under the bed of someone whom they deem 'worthy' to be led astray by its knowledge.
Not that he needed it by any means. He just thought it could be useful to control others.
