The military compound has family housing blocks that were built just a few years ago, as well as older single-story houses. Most of the senior officers' families choose the housing blocks, but Lu Jiang, knowing his wife's preferences, opted for a small courtyard. It included four single-story houses: three bedrooms, one living room, a kitchen, a bathroom in the courtyard, and two side rooms, which Lu Jiang had tidied up into a study. No one knew where he had managed to get the bookshelves.
The place was clean and well-organized, ready for the family to move in directly.
