Rihito swam up, making some distance from the submarine. Before starting, he looked back and ensured the barrier was reinforced like he had asked.
Rihito, seeing them prepared, looked forward.
"Alright, it's my turn."
Rihito unleashed his mana, surrounding himself with a crimson aura. This would be the first time he used Gravity Magic outside of training. He typically employs Gravity Magic to enhance his physical training and manipulate surrounding objects, but now he was preparing to fix a distorted gravity zone for the first time.
"Meh, I will manage." Rihito's eyes glowed, analysing the situation with
He first gained control over the gravitational disturbance and then released the submarine, allowing it to escape. Next, he used
Now that the loot was collected, it was time to disperse the gravity field, or he was sure it would be a disaster.
Rihito used his gravity magic to control the gravitational disturbance. It took him about 20 minutes to release it, and due to the lingering effects of the gravitational disturbance, a fifth whirlpool has now formed.
"..."
"..."
Rihito looked at that speechlessly for a moment. Even though he had dispersed the gravity field, the aftereffects created a new problem.
[I will just ignore that], thinking to himself, Rihito went after the submarine.
Back on board the submarine, we headed deeper, following the pendant's light, and soon we reached another canyon. On one of the canyon floors, there was a star-shaped insignia with a moon symbol in the centre.
Seeing the insignia, I pointed the pendant at it. As soon as the light touched the insignia, it glowed, and a circular door large enough to accommodate the submarine opened up.
This time, instead of heading straight, we waited, contemplating.
"What do you think will be behind that door?" Rihito spoke out.
"Ugh, I hope it's not those spinning things, anymore of that, and I will puke," Shea groaned.
Kaori, Shizuku, and Yue's faces paled thinking about that.
Tio spoke in a cautious tone, "We should also be preparing for surprise attacks."
"Don't worry, anyone who dares to attack, I will annihilate them," Tohru said with a bloodthirsty smile.
Hearing all that Hajime announced, "Whatever is behind, be prepared. We are heading in."
Hajime drove the submarine inside and crossed to the other side of the entrance. Suddenly, the water vanished, and a force pushed the submarine down, making it plummet through the air.
"Waaa!" Shea.
"Kyaaa!" Shizuku.
"Haa!" Kaori.
"Oh!" Yue.
As the girls screamed, Tohru and Tio readied themselves for transformation to stop the submarine. But this time their caution was unnecessary.
Rihito and Hajime, foreseeing their predicament, had already activated the floating device attached to the submarine; it was made of Spirit Stone and enchanted with gravity magic.
The submarine, falling, slowed its descent as it landed on jagged, rock-filled land.
"..."
"Is everybody okay?" I asked everyone.
After checking on everyone, we regrouped and disembarked from the submarine. Hajime stored the submarine while we searched the cave for the entrance.
Rihito looked up at the ceiling and witnessed a surprising sight. The entrance from which they fell was covered with water. For a moment, he wondered if they were in some kind of trap. But upon closer inspection, he saw all the water above was stuck to the ceiling. It seemed some force was blocking the water, which he guessed was gravity magic.
Rihito wondered if someone might have set some kind of spell to thrust down anyone who tries to cross the entrance.
[What a devious trap!] Rihito couldn't help but shake his head. If some unprepared person passes through that, they are guaranteed to become a blood splatter.
"Master, look there," while Rihito was observing the ceiling, Tohru found something, pointing at it.
In a particularly dark section of the cave, obscured by large rocks, there were faint hints of the same star-shaped Sigil with a moon at the centre. It resembled the sigil he had seen at the entrance.
"Good job," I praised her for finding the entrance.
As always, getting praised by Rihito, Tohru was happy.
Finding the door, we headed there and started to clear the debris, crushing all the rocks and a few boulders. I looked at the crest carved on the stone door, a five-pointed star with a moon at its centre.
"So this is it, huh?" Hajime said and took out the pendant from his neck, which was dimly glowing.
Hajime pointed the pendant at the gate, and in response, the pendant began to glow brighter and emit light toward the door. The crest on the stone door reacted to the pendant's light, absorbing it initially and glowing softly. After some time, the pendant, in Hajime's hand, dimmed completely. Suddenly, the intensity of the light from the door increased dramatically, nearly blinding everyone in the gathering.
"Waaa! My eyes," Shea held her eyes, groaning, leaning into Rihito.
"R-rihito! I can't see," Shizuku held on to Rihito, trying to balance herself.
"Master," Tohru also leaned in.
"Dammit! I fell for such a trick. I have a feeling this is that damned Miledi's fault," Hajime angrily gritted his teeth. Kaori, Tio, and Yue also held on to Hajime.
Rihito, also blind, couldn't help but agree, "I swear, if I ever see her, I will bury her to the ground."
Right then, almost like it was planned, from above, multiple jets of water cannon were fired.
Rihito, using
"Get ready, from the above," I shouted.
Hajime, Yue, Tio, Tohru, and Shea regained their vision, bombarded the monsters with magic and spells above. Within just a few minutes, we cleared all the seashell monsters.
Afterwards, we regrouped at the stone door. "Here's the plan: Hajime and Yue will be at the front. Shea and Shizuku will be the secondary line, while Kaori and Tio will back them up with magic. Lastly, Tohru and I will take the rear guard."
With formation set, we entered the labyrinth, navigating a path where the water reached up to my knees. Along the way, we encountered many strange sea creatures, including a purple starfish, a monster with the upper body of a seahorse and the lower body of a crab, a sea serpent, and many more.
Observing the monsters of this labyrinth, Rihito concluded that they are much weaker than those of the Grand Gruen and Great Orcus labyrinths.
"Hajime, how about letting Shizuku and Kaori handle the monsters?" I suggested, thinking it would be good practice before the real deal comes.
Hearing my words, Shizuku nods while Kaori looks determined to prove something.
Hajime paused and looked at me.
"I'm sure you have noticed these monsters are quite weak. Weaker than any monsters we faced in Grand Gruen and Great Orcus,"
Hajime contemplated for a moment. Kaori, seeing his expression, spoke up, "Hajime, please let me do it."
Seeing how determined Kaori is, he agrees, "Fine."
We then changed the front line with Shizuku and Kaori, Hajime and Shea on the secondary line, Yue and Tio as magic support, and Rihito and Tohru as a rear guard.
With this new formation, we headed deeper, soon encountering a group of large piranha monsters about 3 meters in size.
Shizuku watched as a monster leapt out of the water. Without hesitation, she slashed down from above, slicing it in half. Immediately afterward, she activated Ground Shrinker, taking down two more monsters that were trying to get past her to attack Kaori. Suddenly, two additional monsters sprang out of the water, catching Shizuku off guard. Just as they were about to harm her, a shimmering barrier appeared, blocking the oncoming creatures.
"Shizu, don't worry. I will hold them down," Kaori said, using her barrier to block the monsters.
Shizuku nodded at her, then immediately struck down another two monsters.
Shizuku and Kaori, with slight support from Hajime and others, cleared the rest of the monsters from the front.
While the frontline was busy, the rear guard was also getting attacked.
Rihito, kicking a piranha away, looked at Tohru, who was hungrily looking at all the Piranhas.
"..."
"Rest in pieces." Rihito prayed inwardly, knowing their fate.
Tohru then, in seconds, blitzes the piranha's and piles them in front of Rihito, eagerly looking at him.
Seeing how eager she was, I just stored them and continued ahead.
After about half an hour of walking, we reached a cavern.
We entered the cavern vigilantly, watching out for something surprising. Sensing nothing inside the cavern, his senses extended to the wall.
Rihito's eyes furrowed as his mana sense wasn't able to scan past the wall's surface. Normally, because of mana particles in the air, he should have easily been able to scan anything unless…
"Oi, are you even listening?" Hajime called out, annoyed.
"Huh? Ah! Yeah, what were you saying?" Rihito asked.
Hajime asked straight, "Did you find anything?"
Rihito, understanding what Hajime wanted, looked around the Cavern. They were currently standing at the centre of the cavern. "There is something on the wall that is blocking mana sense."
"I see, then it's the same as what Yue and I are detecting," Hajime pondered.
"We should keep our distance from the wall."
Suddenly, something inside the cave shifted. A slightly purplish, translucent liquid seeped out from the cracks in the walls and pooled on the cavern floor. A large blob of this liquid poured out above the only entrance, effectively blocking the path we had used to enter.
"What the…" Hajime cursed, seeing the situation.
"That thing blocked the entrance," Kaori said, panicking.
"Leave it to me," Shea said, pulling out her Drucken and striking it against the purplish blob trying to open the entrance. However, instead of breaking through, the jelly-like material absorbed the impact, causing her to bounce back and knock Shea off balance. In the process, some of the jelly splattered onto her.
"Ugh, what is this? It stings," Shea went to Rihito, showed her breasts and complained.
"Hold still," Rihito said, using
Removing the jelly substance, Rihito's eyes narrowed, and a reddish burn skin was seen.
Rihito was about to use healing magic, but…
"Leave it to me," Kaori said and pointed her staff at Shea's wounds, healing her completely.
Kaori, who was able to help, felt happy about her contribution. However, for Shea, it was an opportunity to seduce Rihito, hoping it might lead to something more later. With a sigh, she realised her chance had slipped away and felt disappointed. It had been a while since they spent a night together; since then, they had been busy, and she believed this was the perfect opportunity, but it did not succeed.
Shizuku, seeing Shea's expression, couldn't help but smirk.
"Yue," Hajime shouted as he shot the jelly-like substance, taking out some of the tentacles that lunged toward us.
Yue, seeing this, put up
Tio, seeing the defence was taken care of, used her fire magic to burn the tentacles.
While all of this was happening, Rihito was observing the tentacles. Some of them were sticking to the barrier, slowly corroding it, making magic attacks less effective, and the tentacles could regenerate almost instantly, so it wouldn't be long before they broke through.
"Graaa!"
Pondering, I heard a growl from my side and saw that Tohru was glaring at the creature as if she recognised it.
"Tohru, do you know what that is?" I asked her.
Calming herself, she answered, "Master, that thing is bad news. If it really is what I am thinking, then we are in big trouble."
Just as she said that, all of a sudden, all the jelly substance converged in one place and took shape into something similar to a sea angel.
