Chapter 4558 - Chapter 3640: The Edge of Tomorrow (49)

Mars, a planet long regarded as Earth's "twin," has been the repository for so many hopes. In the vast cosmos, this planet's location and ecosystem are almost as exquisite as Earth's. For many years, the human race has hoped Mars could become its second home.

The exploration of Mars has never ceased, but due to the pace of technological development, humans have yet to make further progress on this planet. What they don't know is that Mars already had native inhabitants long ago, and even by the time humans began to explore the universe, the original Martians had already become extinct.

This is an unspeakable tragedy, not just for the Martians, but for humanity as well. The alien life they imagined was so close, yet they missed each other in such a dramatic fashion.

Among the Martians, there weren't just Green Martians like Ron; there was also a less known race—the White Martians. Within the Martian community, Green Martians were noble and powerful, while White Martians were often synonymous with evil and madness, and the two sides were almost as incompatible as water and fire.

However, the White Martians also have transformation abilities, so they often disguised themselves as Green Martians to cause trouble, hiding among the Green Martians and rarely exposing themselves. Therefore, the once-thriving Green Martians couldn't completely exterminate them.

After Malafax exterminated the Green Martians, most of the White Martians were also killed, but a small number of isolated White Martians survived. They occupied the cities of the Green Martians, claiming themselves as the legitimate Martian civilization.

Unfortunately, their luck wasn't great. After the Mercury Base exploded, the Green Lanterns needed a better base in the Solar System, and they set their sights on Mars City. Ron, the Green Martian survivor who could lawfully inherit the city, agreed to their plan.

The Green Lantern Corps launched a ruthless extermination campaign against the White Martians on Mars. Although the Green Lantern Corps is synonymous with justice across the universe, those whom Hal brought back home were his die-hard followers. They only acted on the commands of the "Prince Jade" and would never let an enemy go.

The White Martians were not powerless, naturally having room for resistance, but unfortunately, they were too few in number to contend with the Green Lantern Corps. The Justice League even set aside their work on Earth to help the Green Lantern Corps purge Mars City, making it even more impossible for them to deal with these invaders. Most were killed, and a small number slinked away from the center, hiding in remote wilderness areas.

Mars City, the capital of Martian civilization. Standing on the rooftop of the building, Ron gazed at the city below with some sentiment and said, "I never thought that after so many years, it would still be like this. If the Martians hadn't gone extinct, there'd definitely be a traffic jam down there."

Behind him, Diana patted his shoulder with a smile and said, "Don't lament. Although your compatriots can't return, at least we reclaimed your homeland."

"Yes, thank you very much," Ron said sincerely. "I really didn't expect those damned whites to claim that they were the rightful owners of Mars! When we established Martian civilization back then, they did nothing but cause trouble, they were utterly shameless!"

"Fortunately, you guys helped. Had they succeeded, I wouldn't know how to face my family and children."

Diana smiled and said, "Okay, let's get off the rooftop and out of the cold; there's a party waiting for us downstairs."

Ron and Diana went back inside the building. This building is the scientific research center of Mars City, which the White Martians took over and used as their base. But unfortunately, they couldn't use the technology here, not even able to dismantle the equipment, merely turning some scattered items into a mess.

After the Green Lantern Corps and Justice League arrived and eradicated them, they cleaned everything up, and under Ron's guidance, repaired most of the equipment. This place became a base for the Green Lantern Corps, while the Justice League chose the energy center not far away.

After reclaiming Mars City, they chose to hold a victory party today. As Ron pushed the door open and entered, he was immediately sprayed in the face with champagne.

"Oh! Hey!" Diana hurriedly covered her hair with her hands, saying, "I just got this hairstyle done! Don't mess around!"

Ron wasn't angry at all; he cheerfully wiped the foam from his face, picked up a ribbon cannon beside him, and fired it at Bruce and Clark.

Hal walked over with a wine glass and said, "How's the reflection going, buddy? Hurry up and have a drink with us. We've prepared your favorite Oreos!"

As he spoke, Hal waved his hand, and stacks of Oreo packages were opened, the black cookies flying out, piling up beside Ron to form an identical him.

Ron picked up a cookie and tossed it into his mouth, chewing enthusiastically, revealing a look of enjoyment: "I really don't know how you humans came up with this thing. If the Martians had imported this snack back then, we might have eaten up your entire world's stock!"

Hal laughed heartily, flew into the air, wrapped an arm around the big guy, and swayed toward the dance floor. Diana turned to Clark and said, "How are those two kinsfolk of yours doing?"

"I suggested going back to Krypton for a look. They think I might want to pay my respects to my parents, so they're planning to accompany me. But actually, that's perfect, as it will distract their attention from Hai'er."

"I'm really envious," Bruce said. "Being able to go and mock Brainiac face to face. If it weren't for things here, I'd want to go too."

"Who wouldn't want to see some fun?" Diana said as she walked, "No worries, Mars is like the front row. When we get the network connected, maybe we can even mock Brainiac online."

"His reaction will surely be priceless, hahahaha."

"Oh, speaking of network recovery, we're almost ready," Bruce said. "The equipment on Mars City is about to resume operation and the planet's shield will activate. The protective devices they produced earlier are ready too, and you'll have to help distribute them to the various planets."

"No problem," Diana said with a snap of her fingers, "Although I doubt Brainiac would move Krypton, it's better to be prepared early."

"It's not just to guard against him. If those reckless guys just sail into the solar system, it could affect the gravitational pull of the planets. Mars and Earth have shields, but the others don't. If they get blown off course, moving them back could be a pain."

The group entered the dance floor. At this point, the Green Lanterns were already drunk. A party went on until midnight, everyone was woozy, and their feet were unsteady.

"Hey... Hey?! It's Pamela! Hurry up and reply!"

Clark jolted upright and picked up the phone beside him, saying, "Ah, Pamela, what's up?"

"Have you guys drunk too much again?! Jonathan and I are done here, you should head to Krypton. It won't be long before those guys arrive!"

"Okay, I'm leaving now."

Remembering the chaos at the party the night before, Clark, standing in front of the instrument, couldn't help but rub his temples. He ignored Brainiac's roar, just turned to Superman and Injustice Superman and said, "Let's go, let's check out the Kuiper Belt."

They arrived at the edge of the solar system through the Green Lantern Corps' teleportation portal. The two other Supermen, led by Clark, did not conceal their presence either, so they were soon discovered by the Yellow Lantern Corps.

The leader was an extremely strong monster with blue skin and a mouth full of fangs. He was wearing the Yellow Lantern Corps uniform, his eyes glowing with a terrifying yellow light.

"Who are you? Green Lantern Corps' lackeys?"

"Are you blind or what? Or maybe you're colorblind and can't even see if we're green?" Clark said bluntly, "Brainiac asked me to pass a message: you'd better get out of the solar system now, or he'll bury your heads in the mud and then kick you out!"

The two Supermen behind him turned their heads to look at him.

The big guy opposite clearly couldn't stand such provocation either, let out an angry roar, and charged at Clark.

Clark didn't take the bait at all and turned to fly back. The two Supermen hurriedly followed him, and then they found that this universe's Clark flew much faster than them.

Who knows if it was because he charged for too long beside the Sun or if it was his special skill, but Clark's flying speed far exceeded the normal standard for Superman. He reached half the speed of light at takeoff, accelerated to 80% of light speed in 5 minutes, and then continued flying at sub-light speed, unobstructed throughout the solar system.

When Clark took off, the two Supermen were taken aback. It's not that they couldn't fly fast, but flying this fast would severely affect the orbits of surrounding celestial bodies, possibly even affecting the Sun. Was this guy courting death?

They quickly chased after Clark, trying to stop him, but soon they also discovered that the planets in the solar system were as stable as rocks, without any sign of fluctuation, their orbits solid as if welded in place.

They immediately understood that the Justice League was probably well prepared. At this moment, the two of them really didn't know what to say.

During this time, they watched as the Justice League allowed Brainiac to take over Earth. Injustice Superman protested many times, not because he was particularly kind, but because their task here was to deal with Brainiac, and if they just surrendered, how could they complete their mission?

But the Justice League didn't care at all, and didn't need their help either. They originally thought the Justice League had a backup plan, but didn't expect their backup plan to be two bigger troubles.

They didn't lack effort either; they actually installed some protective device on all the planets in the solar system, making them almost immune to gravitational interference, creating an almost perfect battlefield environment—never mind why it turned into a battlefield.

But admittedly, this move was quite effective. Clark directly flew with the Yellow Lantern Corps leader to Krypton. Brainiac was stunned watching the two figures rapidly approaching him.

The scouts he sent out had just observed the movements of the Demon-like Army, and Clark dragged the leader of the Yellow Lantern Corps to his home. Now Brainiac's factories for producing all kinds of weapons and machine armies were all on Krypton; wouldn't this be a complete wipeout?!

Watching Clark Kent still smiling at the edge of Krypton's gravitational field, Brainiac's nose was crooked with anger.

People are invading your home solar system now! Not helping is one thing! Why are you causing trouble here?!
