Chapter 79 - Chapter 079: Adventurers Guild At Last

"Hmmm… Now I just need to come up with a name for your battalion since you already have enough units to be considered as such. Quite the achievement for a hatchling." The blue haired bar owner said with as much emotion as always puts in - tapping her chin with her visible eye faintly narrowed.

In front of her was truly a magnificent set of "full bodied" armour that faintly hummed in a way that could only be called satisfying.

Of course she still had a very recognisable cowboy hat between two antlers.

Although she didn't seem to be in a big of a rush as the knightess was to show off her brand spanking new armour to the world. Only thing that allowed her to remain stout was fittingly her armour. "You have the whole dead animal theme going on with your human units yet your robots are named after metals…"

Letting out the most emotionless sigh I have ever heard as the supposed bigwig of the god hunters continued to ponder over what the official title of the knightess would be. Part of her felt it was a great honour and the other part of her was wondering why she felt that way. It was a strange feeling.

"I could name you the einherjar but I believe Violent already named the undead heroes of Valhalla so I can't exactly do that…" She said with her head tilting up to look towards the sky. Makes you wonder what the personality of someone called "Violent" would be like.

It was just then that she clicked her un-gloved fingers with a nod to accompany it.

"You will be the reapers of those who attempt to obtain immortality via breaking the ancient covenants set down by the heavens. So is there a better name than the Ankou Knights?" Saying that she pulled out a small ring from under the bar. Placing that in front of the splendid armoured figure.

No words were needed as the knightess, as smart as she was, had long learned all about these rings that acted as magical storage. Her wonderfully manufactured suit of armour even allowed her to send her own spiritual power into the ring to see what it stored. That being a whole lot of capes and flags.

They had the visage of an elk of gold without skin, almost looking mechanical rather than undead, upon a purple background.

I don't know much about heraldry but I know that purple is associated with royalty.

She didn't seem to care about that though as she just let the brave knightess take the contents of the ring into her own inventory. Hooray for items stacking rather than taking up individual slots. After which she took the ring back to place under the bar once more.

"You can give the capes to those silver knights of yours in the future; once you figure out how to put a soul inside of them." The bar owner said casually before picking up a nail file.

"H-how did y-"

"I know more than you think I do so hurry along and behave yourself." Not even bothering to look up from her nails as she sent that beautiful courageous infallible yet sexy figure on her way. That knightess-cum heavenly sheriff did not linger, either, turning to begin heading out the door.

At least she managed to get to the door before she was forced to stumble forward as something ended up pelting the back of her helm. Causing her shield to ripple until the item lost momentum thus fell to the ground where it clattered with a metallic dinging. "Forgot to give you that."

The emotionless voice made the knightess unwilling to pick a fight so she instead looked below to see what was chucked at her.

Finding an emblem of a double horizontally intersected cross with the bottom being longer.

"Put that on your armour to prevent some idiots out of your league from picking a fight with you." She did not even seem to have turned around as she was still just standing there, Making the knightess wonder if it was actually her who chucked it at the back of her head.

Either way I- er- she had better things to do than ponder that.

So that knightess finally stepped out of the bar and into the glimmering sun that marked the beginning of the first day of the game. The bar was actually very close to the city centre so the knightess managed to catch sight of the players as they first started arriving. Those who chose defaults appeared first.

Golden pillars of light joined with the sound of clockwork turning is what precluded the arrival of each player which made sense if it was twilight who was responsible.

They already had a pleasing aesthetic so why change it up?

Those players curiously looked around while waving their hands in front of their faces; no doubt going through some tutorial which I wasn't lucky enough to receive. Personally I blame everyone but myself for what happened. Although soon their curious gazes found their way upon the 7ish foot figure of the knight.

Under the sun their golden armour glimmered in a beautiful fashion as various arcane symbols made the armour almost look ornamental. It looked akin to slimmed down fantasy armour with the visor of the helmet being split into a similar cross as the one on the emblem. Though their eyes were hidden.

Their fingers reached into their inventory to pull out one of the many capes I now had; draping it over her right shoulder/arm then fixing it with the god hunters emblem.

Players were mystified by the fantasy knightess while the civilians were the exact same.

Although the civilians also showed far more respect in their reactions (knowing exactly what that cross meant) while the players simply didn't care. Immediately mumbling about this or that. Some even comment on things that without a doubt would be considered disrespectful.

"Woah~ how long till we can get armour like that!"

"Don't see a weapon so are they one of those fist fighters?"

"That hat looks familiar…"

"Are they a knight cyborg gunslinger; that's so fucking cool!"

"Are they the npc teacher?"

"Go to say that's a big breast plate~."

So on and so on.

Of course the civilians were not like the "npcs" of other games who would just allow such a disrespectful act to happen to an honoured knight let alone a god hunter.

Soon one middle aged woman walked up to those players without any worry that they were all wearing various levels of armour (from cloth robes to bronze breastplate). Raising her voice like a bat out of hell as she seemed ready to attack them. "Who do you think you are to insult an honoured knight!"

Indeed the knightess-

"Tsk." My tongue click was overlooked by everyone around since it could easily be taken as me just being annoyed by these stupid newcomers. Unfortunately the players weren't exactly willing to take their lumps sitting down as the one having the lady yell in his face promptly went red in the face.

Not even hesitating to reach down for his sword that he pretty sloppy pulled out from his scabbard in a hopes to intimidate that woman. Raising it about his head with a roar. "Who do you think you are that you can just get in my face, npc bitch!"

A worried & panicked gasp came from those around as the woman in question backed away; though she had no reason to worry.

Before he could even raise a smug smile at his pitiful attempt of intimidation I reached a hand down to my thigh where a compartment opened up and deposited my upgraded six-iron. With accuracy that was all but expected of me I shot the guard of the sword. His sloppiness showed as it instantly left his hand.

*PANG*

"Have you no class to raise a weapon to a lady?" So I said with vapour still drifting from my barrel while that sloppy swordsman could only cradle his now sore hand. Blowing on it due to the force at which his sword left his hand.

It didn't take a genius rogue to hear the sound of hurried footsteps as the town guard arrived just in time to see the scene of me pointing my revolver towards the man who was no unarmed.

A grin formed on his face as only a couple of players stayed around him; either due to just spawning in or maybe having some connection to him. I didn't even care as he spoke up to the guards. "This crazy bitch actually shot me so I arrested her!"

He seemed to have spent so long ordering people around in the real world that he seemed to have forgotten that his family couldn't help him in this world. Those guards just looked at his obviously shabby attire then at my sparkling new armour. Their reaction only got "better" when they saw the crest.

"Do not worry about me obstructing you, good sirs, I was just disarming a foul child who thought it was appropriate to swing their toy around in the middle of the city square. I will be on my way so please feel free to do the same." My armour helps to give my voice more gravatas even without a voice changer.

The one who looked to be the leader of the squad promptly bowed with his hand on his chest; a fact that caused the player in trouble to blanch. "Oh my lady, we wouldn't hope to get in the way of an honourable person like yourself. I must say this new armour suits you well."

It appeared that the guard in question had heard of my prior exploits (I had been wiping out more bandits in the week I spent testing various things for my armour).

I wasn't going to complain about some compliments so I nodded while patting his shoulder with my free hand and returned my revolver to its place on my thigh. This whole scene also led to a few people finally getting some ideas of the girl behind the amour. Yet I ignored them for now as I headed to my destination.

My new appearance made it so nobody was willing to get in my way; partly due to hiding my face and as well as my allegiance being quite clear to all.

As such it took no time to arrive at the adventurers guild.

Stepping in made it so the roaring chaos simmered down into a tense silence as the adventurers inside wondered if they had done something to catch a knight's attention. Of course some were locals so recognised the god hunters brand. Those sorts didn't know whether to be scared or relaxed.

Not surprising as I had somewhat learned just how big a deal my order was - our name could be taken somewhat literally. Anything too big for mortals to deal with fell under us to deal with. My earlier fight against the small army of dragons could be considered an average Thursday for those baddasses.

Most importantly… They were all female!

At least their knights were since some like me had some "additional help" yet none of those would be allowed to wear the personal emblem of the order. That is why I was given the separate insignia for my battalion within the order. Not that I could complain when the boss lady killed it with that one.

There was no noob-bullying going on as everyone here at least had someone knowledgeable enough next to them to prevent them from fucking around and finding out. A good thing since I was sure that those dragons wouldn't be so lucky next time. As such I ended up walking up to the counter.

Me approaching made all the lines dissipate as if I was Moses parting the red sea.

Reaching the desk allowed me to look down on a cute girl who gave that neighbourhood first crush kind of vibe to me. Obviously she was very nervous in having a knight walk up so I didn't keep up pretences and just said what I wanted out right.

"I would like membership for both me and my battalion; would that be plausible?"
