Pei Ye and the black cat walked along the edge of Taiye Pond.
He was limping, the cat listless.
"We won another battle," Pei Ye said.
The black cat nestled in his arms said nothing.
Pei Ye looked down at it, gently touching its ears. Some deep red cracks still lingered in its fur, making him feel a bit heartbroken.
"Kitty, are you gonna be okay?"
Since meeting the Immortal Hunting, the impression he left was that of a thick-skinned, resilient fighter. He'd been killed entirely by the Immortal Lord back then, but still came back to life in the cat's body, and was back to being full of life within a month or two.
"I'll be fine."
"That's good." Pei Ye gently patted it. "When we meet Qu Xin, I'll see if she can introduce a vet to us."
The black cat listlessly lifted its head and looked at him.
