A Small Chapter
The X-Men are now living underground beneath the ruins of the mansion. Kitty is sneaking a midnight snack, when Kurt teleports in and catches her drinking straight from the milk carton.
Kurt grabs the milk carton from Kitty and says, "I knew it! You drink right from the carton."
"Kurt! I was gonna... finish the whole thing." Kitty was shocked, but she accepted it.
As Kurt teased her about it, Kitty saw intruders on the monitors. She and Kurt teleported upstairs to take care of them before an alarm was tripped and woke everyone else up.
There was Mal Robson, Keith Kcid, and some other high school jock, all in masks, spray-painting graffiti everywhere.
Kurt told them, "You better take off now."
When one of them shouted, "You're all freaks!"
They had removed their masks.
"Yes—Bayville doesn't want you!" Keith agreed.
Mal also added, "Nobody wants you!" Everyone laughed and they left.
The next day, Jubilee's parents arrived to take her home.
Logan told Xavier, "First Rahne, and now Jubilee... They're leaving. I can't believe parents are pulling their kids out of here. Do they really think it'll be any better for them at home?"
Xavier says to him, "I hate to admit it, Logan, but I would probably do the same thing. After all, I promised them their children would be safe here. Obviously, that hasn't been the case."
Wolverine says, "This is my fault. I should have caught Mystique's scent when she was here posing as you."
Xavier adds, "And I should've sensed her in Wanda's hospital room before she abducted me."
Xavier then says that, "But with her advanced shape-changing abilities, she's now able to conceal herself completely from us."
Then the Storm and Jean come, Xavier asked, "Ben hasn't woken up."
"Yes, he is still in a coma," Storm nodded.
"His body has recovered from all the external wounds," Jean added.
"Yes, I still don't know about his history or origin. But his powers are amazing. He can even Reverse the time." Xavier was still amazed, knowing that Ben could reverse time; with this ability, he had saved countless mutant lives.
"But, he needs at least some time to recover from the overuse of his powers," Logan replied, he was also amazed, but it was the truth.
"Yes," Professor Xavier agrees, knowing even his unique powers come with limitations and make him physically vulnerable.
"But Professor, since he is now in a coma, can't you read his mind?" Ororo asked.
"No, his mind is completely blocked from any telekinetic powers; no one can control or touch his mind," Professor explained.
Xavier mentally awakens the other X-Kids and calls the older students into a meeting. At the meeting, Xavier informs them that they will be allowed back to school for one day, provided they refrain from using their powers.
Kitty tells him that she's afraid to go back, that they don't fit in there anymore. They see the morning newspaper, which calls mutants as monsters.
Scott tells him that it's only a matter of time before everyone realizes who they really are since they live at the Institute. Xavier tells them all that it's an opportunity for them to set an example.
At school, the other students gawked and taunted the X-Men as they filed into the building. Taryn gave Scott the cold shoulder.
One of them shouted, "Go home!"
A female student followed, saying, "You don't belong here!"
Even Ryan Griff couldn't keep his cool; he yelled, "You gonna blow up our school next?"

In the town of Logan was riding on his motorcycle when he met up with Colossus riding another motorcycle. Wolverine followed him.
Logan caught up with Colossus at a barn and the two began to fight.
Colossus says to Logan, "When you tire of the discrimination, Magneto offers you the chance to join him and fight."
"So you want to become a lackey like me?! I don't think so!" Wolverine scoffed at him.
Colossus becomes upset and says, "I am not a lackey! I... I have no choice!" Wolverine tries to convince him to join the X-Men, but Colossus insists that he cannot and leaves.
At the Brotherhood house, Principal Kelly arrives to invite the boys back to school. They decide to return.
At school, Kurt is trying really hard to hide the fact that he's a mutant. Amanda questions him about abandoning his friends and she's not too happy about it.
Duncan and some of his friends started pushing Scott around, trying to get him to use his powers so he would be expelled. Kitty and Rogue showed up to defend Scott and scare off Duncan and company.
Kelly calls Duncan into his office and says, "You shouldn't mess with the Xavier kids; they always stick together." He also casually mentions, "The Brotherhood boys don't like them either."
The Brotherhood shows up at school and starts terrorizing the normal kids; Lance makes an example out of Andy Black after he bumps into him.
Meanwhile, Jean is playing basketball in the gym, but the other girls accuse her of cheating and using her powers; Linda Lane won't even stand up for her, and she gets benched.
Jean noticed Kelly packing up a lot of the athletic trophies. She said, "What are you doing?"
"I don't think that all of the awards were won fairly; some were won by cheating," said Kelly as he took all of the awards.
Jean was angry, but she soon forgot about it because even Ben hadn't woken up yet, and she didn't know what the point of the awards were.
That night at the meeting, as Jean is giving her speech, she says, "Since this is personal, let's keep it personal. Most of you have children. There is a chance that one of them will have an advanced X gene, and as they grow older, they will be considered mutants. You will love them anyway. But people will hate them. And people will want to hurt them. You will hope for the day that your child can live in a safe world. Well, that world must begin now, with you by allowing mutants to attend public school. Thank you."
Kelly tries to turn the board members against the mutants by saying that the mutants are all out of control, and that they can't be allowed back to school.
Xavier counters by saying that his students are showing remarkable control.
The Brotherhood and Duncan team up and start a fight with the other X-kids in the parking lot outside.
Scott tells the others that they are not to use their powers, so the X-kids take a beating and do their best to get out of harm's way. Lance starts to bring down the entire auditorium.
The X-Men are finally forced to use their powers to save the innocent bystanders. Kurt finally steps in to help, and when the X-Men regroup, the Brotherhood runs off.
The X-Men stand in front of the auditorium, looking sadly at the destroyed parking lot.
Next morning, Xavier called everyone to another meeting. Logan asked, "There's a funeral," when he saw everyone walking by with saddened faces.
Xavier explained to Logan, as he turned toward the X-Kids. "The board voted to allow them back into school. But, the kids aren't too happy about going back."
"It is not only an honor for them to be taking the first step in this new world, but it's also their responsibility for the mutants yet to come. I am very proud of you all, and that no matter what, the X-Men will endure."
While Rogue sat at Skarky's bedside, she noticed he was still in a coma.
