Edward Abel had the surreal feeling of being struck by lightning, with a moment of blankness in his brain.
He took an uncontrollable step backward.
What did he just... hear?
The voice from inside the room continued, "Why should I keep my voice down? Let it come to a head! I've had enough. When Kingston Sheldon was around, they favored him. Now that Kingston is gone, they favor his daughter. I really can't take it anymore; they're pushing me to the edge!"
By the end, Victoria Sheldon's voice revealed hints of grimness and madness.
"Enough! Do you want the whole family to know about what happened eighteen years ago?" David Abel yelled angrily: "Then go outside now and tell Mom and Dad what you did eighteen years ago!"
David Abel seemed to be pushing Victoria Sheldon toward the door; Edward heard a chaos of footsteps, and it sounded like something got knocked over midway—Edward heard the sound of glassware shattering on the floor from inside the room.
