She had passed the stage of pursuit, anxiety, and attachment, so it was even more difficult to find a goal for her.
When she reached outside the cafeteria, Flossie Wright paused, then took a step forward.
She came to stand in front of Perry Reed.
The two stood face to face.
"Perry Reed, I'm no longer Erina Taylor, and I'm quite lucky too," Flossie's voice was low. She paused, then continued, "I've picked up a new life, a clean identity. You can't drag me back in."
When Flossie said this, her gaze was calm.
She wasn't intense, argumentative, or combative.
In facing that death and rebirth, she never resented what she lost, she just calmly accepted the new future.
Death was a trial; everything once possessed turned to smoke and vanished, a disaster.
But compared to death, being alive and well made any loss insignificant.
Loss was loss, but as long as she's alive, she would have more.
Perry Reed stopped and took in all of her expressions.
