"Don't think that this will allow you to take over the company. The victor is far from certain!"
Sofia Hamilton gritted her teeth as she spoke, flashing him an incredibly radiant yet stubborn smile.
To be honest.
He had never seen this side of Sofia before.
Defiant, unwilling to admit defeat, even when she knew deep down she couldn't hold on any longer—still, she refused to compromise an inch to him.
What he hadn't expected was that, at this critical moment, she wasn't as fragile and vulnerable as he had thought.
Sofia threw down her words and turned to leave.
The moment she turned, the smile on her face faltered slightly.
Only she knew just how much she lacked confidence.
Tomorrow might very well be the day she lost.
But even so, she couldn't lose her momentum.
Arthur Baker stood in place, watching her car slowly pull away until he could no longer see the tail end disappearing into the bend ahead.
Only then did he retract his gaze, frowning deeply.
