The house was pretty and cozy, I loved it. ´Gwen!´ He called out for me. I went back to him ´Yes?´ I asked him. ´Let´s get you some clothes. I can help you now and for a few days.´ He said while he went to paint. He moved the painting away, and there was a hidden safe! Clever. He unlocked the safe and took some money out of it before closing and locking it. He placed the painting back in its place, and we got out. He took me to a market, everyone looked at me before they continued with what they were doing before. We shopped for food, clothes for me, and some baby things. I wanted to carry some of the bags, but he wouldn't let me. I gave up on asking, and we walked to a doctor. ´Why are we here?´ I asked him.
´To check on your baby.´ He said before opening the door Let me in first. ´Hello, young lady, and oh! Hello Cornelius! Long time no see!´ The doctor greeted us with a smile. ´Hey doc, yeah, sorry about that, but I´m far away. I came here with her so you can check on her baby.´ He announced, the doctor looked over at me before he took me to his office, and told me to raise my shirt and lie down on the bed.
I did as I was told, and he put gel on my belly before he did the ultrasound. He looked serious at the screen for a while, making me feel worried that something was wrong, before he turned the screen to me so I could see my baby. I gasped, and small tears fell on my cheeks when I saw my baby. ´Your baby is growing well and your baby is healthy.´ Said the doctor. ´Can you print out a picture of my baby?´ I asked him and he nodded. He turned the screen back to its place and wiped the gel off my belly. The picture got printed out, the doctor gave me his number, and I thanked him. I walked out with a big smile, I showed the picture to Cornelius with teary eyes.
He nodded, and we walked back to my new house. I miss Kevin...I do, but... for us to move on, I needed to move away from them all. I looked down while we were walking back to the house. Once we got in, Cornelius closed and locked the door behind us. ´Okay, what is wrong, Gwen? I thought you would be happy for a new start.´ He said, placing the bags on the floor before turning to me. I looked at him, stunned. How can he read me so openly... I looked up at him. ´I don´t know....I thought it would be easier to move on.... but I guess I need more time to do so. Please don´t get me wrong. I want to start all over and raise my baby on my own, but...I still wish that Kevin would meet my baby one day. I love this place´ I told him, I was feeling sad but also relieved. ´Look...if you want me to stay and help you to raise your baby.´ He said, I smiled at him, shaking my head. ´Thank you for the offer, but you have a job. An essential job...I can´t take that away from you.´ I told him. I saw him think for a while before turning to me. ´I can be your guard. I still would do my job, but near you. I can always pick up another job to support us. I´m not leaving.´ He said in a bit firm voice.
