Sure enough, the gate downstairs was smashed open, and the kidnapper rushed in, immediately spotting the shoes on the living room floor, promptly grabbing his gun and swiftly bursting into the room.
The two rooms were empty. The kidnapper came out, eyes fixed on the locked restroom door, about to kick it open, when suddenly from the sky terrace above came Emma Osborne's surprised shout.
"Ah... how did you get up here?"
The kidnapper hesitated for a mere second, then turned around, gun in hand, and ran out of the room, clearly heading to the sky terrace to check on Emma Osborne.
Connor Osborne listened to the footsteps getting further away as they ascended the stairs, and his legs went weak. He could no longer worry about alerting the kidnapper, he flung open the restroom door, not even putting on his shoes, and ran downstairs.
