Because relations between her father and Vivian Santos had become somewhat strained, Jaylene Ziel and Joseph Thompson didn't stay for dinner. Just after 4 p.m., they made the excuse of needing to hurry back to see their child and drove back to Thompson Manor.
"Has your dad had some kind of disagreement with Auntie Vivian?" Joseph Thompson asked while driving, "He didn't seem very happy today."
"What do you mean 'your dad'? Isn't he your dad as well?" Jaylene Ziel gave Joseph Thompson a sideways glance.
"A slip of the tongue, a slip of the tongue," Joseph Thompson quickly said with an apologetic smile, "Our dad, okay? Let's not meddle in dad and Auntie's affairs. They're both adults and have both been through a marriage before. They know how to handle their marriage."
