Jeremy Thompson took Anna Ainsworth to Charleston for steamed vermicelli rolls, and they leisurely drove back.
It was past 11 o'clock noon when they reached Elegant Garden. Jeremy was going to escort Anna upstairs, but she stopped him.
"You go on with your business, I can manage on my own. I'm not that delicate," Anna said as she unbuckled her seat belt and pushed open the car door to get out.
"Hey, here," Jeremy took a box from the back seat and handed it to her, "Bought it at the seaside, freshly baked this morning. Take it back for Chris to eat. He should like it."
"Okay," Anna took it, without even a word of thanks, bit the corner of her lip lightly, and holding the not-too-big, not-too-small box, she turned and walked toward the Entrance Hall.
Anna thought her younger brother should be at home cooking by now. He liked to cook and was very good at it. Just the thought of his tomato-covered noodles made her mouth water.
