Keira Leaf stared at the tape being played repeatedly on the screen, sitting up a bit straighter in her chair.
Watching the surveillance footage, which barely varied from day to day, she vaguely felt like she had grasped something, but the harder she tried to hold on to it, the more it eluded her, to the point where she was staring blankly at the TV screen for a long while, unable to figure out what exactly she had discovered.
Sighing with some irritation, Keira turned off the TV.
Curled up in the bed with the quilt, she gazed absentmindedly at the man who was bent over dealing with documents in front of the table, and unwittingly fell asleep.
Hearing her steady breathing, Joshua Sulliven put down his pen, stood up to lift her, gently placed her on the pillow, and then stared at her for a while, reaching out to gently stroke her stomach.
After turning off the lights, he lay down by her side.
