Chapter 1 - Chapter 001: Forced to Jump into the Sea

The sky above the ocean was gloomy, signaling the imminent arrival of a storm.

On the vast, churning sea, the beautiful Sienna Johnson was forced onto the stern of a luxurious cruise ship. Another equally beautiful woman held a pitch-black gun, aimed at the woman cornered on the stern.

"Sabrina, are you going to kill me?" Sienna asked. Her tone was calm, but only she knew the depth of her shock and fear.

One was her fiancé, the other, her non-blood-related sister. These two people had conspired to trap her here and kill her together.

Sienna's heart turned to ice. If I die today, what will they say when they return? They'll surely tell everyone it was an accident. And I, Sienna Johnson, the eldest daughter of the Johnson Family, will have died for nothing.

"Sienna, you shouldn't have come back." Sabrina's gaze on Sienna was filled with a hatred so intense it was as if she wanted to devour her.

"Why?"

"Because with me here, you are redundant."

The woman before her was Sabrina Johnson. Twenty years ago, they were born on the same day in the same hospital, but fate had played the cruelest joke on them.

Due to a nurse's mistake, their identities were switched. Sabrina became the Johnson family's eldest daughter, living a life of luxury. Meanwhile, she, the true eldest daughter of the Johnson Family, was sent to an orphanage and later adopted by impoverished adoptive parents. The Johnson Family only found her when she was thirteen.

"Redundant?" Sienna scoffed, her eyes, cold and mocking, fixed on the insatiable woman before her. "Sabrina, don't you realize everything you possess now was originally mine? If it weren't for me, would you be enjoying this life of luxury? Redundant? Sabrina, you are the one who's redundant!"

"It will all belong to me soon!"

Sabrina raised the gun at her, the dark muzzle like another cruel knife of fate, threatening to snuff out her blooming youth.

How can I just die like this?

A mist veiled Sienna's beautiful eyes, giving her a pitiful and touching appearance. She looked at her fiancé, Frederick Stewart. If she didn't die today, they would become husband and wife next month.

How absurd! The man who was to be my husband next month actually wants to kill me now.

"Frederick, are you going to kill me too?"

Sienna's voice was tinged with desolation. She looked at Frederick, her heart breaking, unwilling to die like this. I have to take a chance. This man might be my only hope for survival.

"Sienna..."

Sabrina noticed a flicker of hesitation in Frederick's eyes, and a fire of jealousy ignited within her. She fired at Sienna. In her panic, the bullet grazed Sienna's arm, staining her fair skin red with blood.

"Ah, it hurts." Sienna made no attempt to hide her vulnerability or her wretched state, presenting the very image she knew they wished to see.

"Sienna, considering we've been sisters for so many years, I'll give you a chance to live today..." Sabrina's smile was cruel, like a viper poised to strike her dead.

Sienna forced herself to remain calm. "You'd be that kind?" she asked.

Suddenly, a fierce wind swept across the sea, and rain began to pour down—heavy, fast, and cold. The icy raindrops struck Sienna's skin painfully. Her clothes were quickly soaked, clinging to her skin and outlining her beautiful figure. Frederick's Adam's apple bobbed; he forced himself not to soften.

Sienna must die! She's too clever. If she lives, she'll ruin my grand plans.

Frederick urged, "What are you doing? Kill her quickly!"

His words elated Sabrina. "Frederick, you're really willing for her to die?"

Frederick gazed at Sabrina affectionately and said softly, "If you don't kill her today, I'll have to marry your sister next month. Would you be willing to let me marry someone else?"

Sabrina shook her head vehemently. "No! You can't marry any other woman! You're mine!"

Frederick's hand caressed her rain-drenched face. Like a lush peony, she was beautiful, yet she was also like a gorgeous porcelain doll, lacking a soul—unlike Sienna, whose beauty was intertwined with a cunning that ignited a man's desire to conquer.

While this despicable pair flirted before her, Sienna wasn't idle. With her hands behind her back, she untied a lifebuoy from the ship's railing. Then, she quietly climbed onto the gunwale. But before she could jump, the gun was aimed at her again.

"Sienna, I'm giving you a way to live today. You jump, and whether or not you survive depends on your luck."

This was precisely what Sienna had planned; she just hadn't expected Sabrina to suggest it.

Frederick interjected, "Are you insane? If we don't eliminate her completely, she'll be an endless source of trouble!"

"Just killing her now would be too easy for her! With this terrible weather, and this ocean full of sharks and pirates, I don't believe she can survive!"

So, Sabrina wasn't being kind; she wanted to prolong my torment until the very end.

"You lured me here, planning all along to kill me?" Sienna asked.

"Of course. Did you really think Frederick came here just to help you unwind?" Sabrina's expression was openly provocative, her eyes conveying a clear message: Sienna, your man has been sleeping with me for a long time, you idiot.

"Frederick, I want to know why you want to kill me. If you love Sabrina and don't want to marry me, just tell me. I absolutely wouldn't pester you. Why won't you leave me any way out at all?"

Sienna and Frederick were in a marriage of convenience, with no love between them. Thus, her words carried no emotional weight for her. A man, especially one she didn't love, was insignificant to her.

Frederick stared at Sienna's beautiful face, his expression complicated and difficult to decipher. "Sienna, you're too smart. Sooner or later, you'll ruin my important plans."

Sienna wanted to know more, but Frederick refused to elaborate. "Important plans?"

"What important plans?" Sienna had to find out. She tried to coax him, feigning utter despair, attempting to appeal to any lingering softness in the man who was about to kill her. "Frederick, I'm going to die. At least let me die knowing why, right?"

"Fine, I'll let you die knowing!" Sabrina, after all, lacked Frederick's composure.

"Sabrina, give me the gun!"

Frederick, annoyed by Sienna's stalling, decided to do it himself. Seeing she wouldn't get any more information out of them, Sienna flipped herself over the ship's railing.

From the massive luxury cruise ship, Sienna fell like a leaf into the water below, without so much as a sound to mark her descent.
