First, he showed interest in her love life by asking her if this friend was a boy or a girl, and when she gave him a panicked answer, he moved on from the topic as if he didn't even talk about it in the very first place.
Why would anyone do that? No follow-up question, no teasing, nothing. Adam didn't react to it at all.
This caused Cassie some panic, and she began blaming herself for slipping, even though Adam hadn't said a word regarding this matter.
