Saffron PoV
The kids' eyes were sparkling as much as the ocean as it and the capital of Mizu no Kin came into view.
"The buildings are so shiny!" Sil exclaimed.
"Shai!" Anis chirped.
"Like seashells!" Alli added, eyes wide with wonder.
Rose glanced at me and smiled. "Although, their brilliance pales in comparison to a certain seashell."
My cheeks reddened as I recalled the rainbow shell I had given her as a kid.
"Alkathir is as beautiful as I recall," Ma said, her eyes a bit misty. She was probably wishing Pa was still with us.
"It's a special place," I said, my voice soft as I pressed her shoulder softly.
Rose nodded beside me, smiling slightly.
The drones carried us gently to the outskirts of the city, where the cobblestone streets met the lush greenery that bordered Alkathir. The air was crisp with the scent of saltwater, mingling with the fragrances of blooming flowers and distant spices from the market.
