Chapter 71 - Chapter 471: My little mind!

"Xiaoyan, Uncle Gu understands your intentions. Four million is sufficient. Any more, Uncle Gu wouldn't be able to bear it!"

While Gu Yongfu was from a rural background, it didn't mean he lacked sensibility.

Four million was a substantial amount that he could hardly accumulate in his lifetime through farming, enough to cover all his expenses.

Why would he need a house on top of that?

"Uncle Gu, please don't be overly polite!"

"I know you've been wanting to move to Ningcheng for a long time. I remember you mentioning it often when I was a child!"

Fang Yan chuckled.

He might not remember much from his childhood, but the memory of Gu Yongfu's dream to move to Ningcheng was etched clearly in his mind.

Back then, Gu Yongfu's rival had made a fortune in business, bought a house in Ningcheng, and moved his entire family there, which made many people envious. Gu Yongfu had secretly clenched his fists in frustration, yearning to move to Ningcheng himself.

However, he lacked the funds at the time. Now, he had some savings, but property prices in Ningcheng had soared. Gu Yongfu had been resigned to his fate, unable to escape the small town and make the move.

"Moreover, Qingya is still in college and will marry in the future. Having a more substantial dowry would give our family more confidence, don't you think?"

As Fang Yan mentioned Gu Qingya, Gu Yongfu's thoughts turned to his beloved daughter.

Indeed, if they had a house in Ningcheng, it would provide Gu Qingya with more confidence and choices when selecting a partner in the future.

This thought moved Gu Yongfu deeply.

"It's not appropriate..."

Gu Qingya hesitated.

"It's perfectly fine. After all, we're all family."

"And I've made a decision for you already. I'll be back in a couple of days to deliver medicine to Aunt E, and I'll take you to Ningcheng to see some houses!"

Fang Yan declared.

"Xiaoyan, I'm at a loss for words!"

"We raised you for several years, but your generosity goes beyond measure!"

Gu Yongfu sighed.

"Uncle Gu, if you keep saying that, people will start to talk!"

"By the way, Qingya, this is for you."

Fang Yan retrieved another bank card from his pocket, "The password is six six, and there's one million in it. You're in college now and need money for various expenses. It's a suitable amount; use it as you need, don't be frugal!"

"One million?!"

"No, no! Xiaoyan, this is far too much, I can't accept it!"

Gu Qingya shook her head insistently.

"Qingya, although we haven't spent much time together, we're still family, right?"

"And given your age, it's appropriate for you to call me Big Brother Fang!"

Fang Yan said, a smile in his eyes.

"Brother Fang, you've already done so much for us, I can't possibly take more!"

Gu Qingya voiced her concerns.

"See, I've called him Brother Fang. Can I be the elder brother now?"

"Go on! Consider it a welcome gift from your big brother. Take it!"

Fang Yan playfully slipped the bank card into Gu Qingya's hand.

Gu Qingya looked at Gu Yongfu, hoping he would intervene and dissuade Fang Yan.

"Qingya, accept it! I can tell, this is Xiaoyan's sincere gesture. You should save it for a rainy day, don't spend it recklessly!"

Gu Yongfu encouraged, taking a deep breath.

Seeing her father's stance, Gu Qingya blushed but finally accepted the bank card, though it held an astronomical sum in her young eyes.

"Ah, splendid!"

Fang Yan exclaimed.

Just a few million was mere pocket change to him now.

For Gu Qingya, one million as pocket money was beyond imagination. But for Fang Yan, one million was as easy as giving a child a 100 yuan red envelope for Chinese New Year.

"Alright, Xiaoyan, no need for more words. Let's drink! We'll have a good rest today!"

"Sounds good!"

Grandfather toasted.

After a few rounds of drinks with Uncle Gu, Fang Yan ended up lying face down on the table, clearly overwhelmed.

...

The following day, Fang Yan awoke with a splitting headache, a telltale sign of a hangover.

"Seems I shouldn't have indulged in so much alcohol without a sturdier constitution... This hangover is dreadful!"

Fortunately, Fang Yan had some emergency medicine on hand. It wasn't as potent as his universal repair solution, but it was effective in alleviating hangover symptoms, stopping bleeding, and relieving pain.

"Alright, Uncle Gu's matters are settled. It's time to move on to the next family!"

Fang Yan's visit to Qingfeng Town was primarily for distributing money.

Having grown up as an orphan, Fang Yan had benefited from the meals of Uncle Gu's family and other villagers. Since he had enjoyed everyone's kindness, it was only fitting that he returned the favor.

After bidding farewell to Uncle Gu, Fang Yan drove to another part of town.

"Aunt Li! I've come to see you!"

Fang Yan greeted cheerfully upon entering the house.

"Oh my! It's Xiaoyan! Quick, have a seat!"

Aunt Li welcomed him warmly.

Aunt Li's home had several family members present—her husband, two sons, and a few distant relatives. Among them, only Aunt Li's husband vaguely remembered Fang Yan; the others didn't recognize him at all.

"Xiaoyan, you should have given us a heads-up. Look, I didn't prepare anything today!"

Aunt Li's husband chuckled.

In rural areas, most people were kind-hearted and straightforward. This was the only way Fang Yan, an orphan, had been able to live with Uncle Gu's family for so long.

"You don't need to prepare anything. I'm here to visit Aunt Li and bring a little something along."

Fang Yan placed a gift bag on the table, catching everyone's attention.

Aunt Li's youngest son, around twelve or thirteen, approached curiously and reached for the gift bag, trying to peek inside.

"Xiaoyan, come closer and give us a look!"

Aunt Li requested politely.

"No need for anything else, but this is a must!"

Fang Yan grinned before opening the gift bag.

Whoosh!

A few seconds later, when the contents of the bag were revealed, everyone's eyes widened in astonishment, and they collectively gasped!

"This is 1 million yuan, a token of my appreciation!"
