Chapter 12 - Chapter XII: Nobles Meet Their Destiny

As soon as we entered the hotel, Felix started to look at me with astonishment, as if he was waiting for something to happen. Although I'm looking forward to being intimate with him, I can't do it if he's not willing or if he's drunk... It's not in my nature to take advantage of vulnerable people, right?

"Maurice, why don't we go back to the Academy?"

"Well, I don't think you'd want to wake up Adrien at this hour, would you? Plus, I've already talked to the director, and he agreed for us to spend the night in the city... Why are you so apprehensive?"

"It's not about me, okay? I'm afraid that the other nobles might find out what we're doing and cause you problems..."

"Seriously? I think I would have had more problems if they found out what we did on the 13th, right? Anyway, it's not like we're doing anything illegal..."

"Wait, we didn't come here to"

"No, we didn't come for that... If that's what you think, all I can say is that the future ruler of Venice is quite peculiar..."

"I... I mean... I wasn't thinking anything strange, just that-"

"It doesn't matter anymore... Let's go to our room."

After renting a room, we received the keys and headed to rest. After all the things that happened today, I need a good sleep. As soon as we entered the room, I sent Felix to take a shower while I pondered on how to solve the problems that I realized I have... One of them is Emily, and she's the most significant one. Anyway, I think it's better to think about something else...

I didn't have time to think about something else as Felix had already come out of the shower, completely naked this time. The sight didn't bother me, but I thought it would be better not to witness something like that, so I threw him the pajamas that were on the bed and fit him perfectly.

"Maurice, are you mad at me?"

"Felix, why would you think that? It's not like we're together or anything, right? Even if we're both... Anyway, excuse me, I'll go wash up... You can go to bed if you want."

"B-But..."

"Go to bed... I'll be back after I finish in the bathroom, okay?"

"O-Okay... Anyway, I'm glad you're not mad at me..."

"Why would I be mad? Anyway, it's almost midnight, so it would be better if we went to sleep, right?"

After making sure that Felix had settled down to sleep, I entered the bathroom to take a warm shower and calm my racing thoughts. After about 30 minutes, I stepped out to check on Felix's condition.

When I emerged, Felix was already fast asleep, looking peaceful like a child... I believe he must have been exhausted after all the events he was involved in today. I wish I could have protected him more before all this happened... It seems that most of the things we desire cannot be easily achieved, so I have to get used to the idea that I can't always protect him. Seeing how beautifully he slept, I quietly slipped into bed to avoid waking him and placed my hand under his head, allowing myself to sleep with him leaning on my shoulder.

How comforting it feels to know that I have somewhat fulfilled my mission in this world. Although I know that nothing is stable yet, I wish to be together until the end, even though I know it might be harder than it seems... Anyway, what matters is the moment I am experiencing now, so I think I will fall asleep and tomorrow everything will return to normal...

The next morning, I woke up alone... Why alone? Because Felix was in the shower, preparing for our return to the Academy.

"Maurice, are you awake?" Felix asked me as he stepped out of the shower.

"As you can see, I'm quite awake at the moment. If you're done, come and get changed..."

After we finished getting ready, we headed to the Academy. The Academy was only 100 meters away, so we didn't need to call a car to take us there. As we entered through the Academy gate, my uncle was already standing in front of the entrance door.

"Maurice, did you sleep well? You know I could have recommended another hotel, right?"

"I realize that, but I think everything was fine, right, Felix?"

"Y-Yes... Anyway, thank you for the permission..."

"No worries, Felix. My nephew's friends will always be privileged in our Academy... Oops, did I say that out loud?"

"It seems like you did... Anyway, Uncle, we'd like to go to class if possible..."

"Sure... By the way, Marcus is at the hospital. He needs to rest at least until tomorrow. Rest assured, he will join the trip. It was his idea, after all..."

"Thank you for the update... Goodbye, Uncle..."

I'm glad that my uncle is the director of the Academy. In the past, all the sons of Duchess Olga had suspicions about their children. Except for my mother, Duchess Olga's daughter, and of course, her most beloved among her 10 children.

All our classmates were amazed to see me entering the classroom with Felix, but they remained silent. As soon as we entered the classroom, we went straight to Jonathan to see how he was doing and give him the news about Marcus. It seemed like he already knew about it and was quite relieved that nothing serious had happened to Marcus. Anyway, it's not like it was Jonathan's fault that Marcus ended up in that situation.

I decided that instead of waiting in the classroom, it would be better to have a meeting of the Academy Council, which we did.

This time, we discussed the seven-day program for our mountain trip. The Apennine Mountains are renowned worldwide for their beauty, and the opportunity to visit them should not be missed, right? Well, it seems that we reached an agreement on the program, and there were no arguments as I had expected.

Immediately after the council meeting, we went together to have lunch. During the meal, we continued discussing various topics, including Felix's dissatisfaction with the last day of the trip.

"Maurice, I don't think we should have something planned as a group on the last day... I was thinking that each of us should organize ourselves and visit different attractions in the area..."

"What do you mean by that? Are you planning to go somewhere alone or something?"

"I was thinking of going with someone to such a place. Don't you think it would be better for us to get to know each other?"

"Well... I think our secretary is right... On the last day of the trip, we will organize ourselves and go wherever we want. If you want, you can go in pairs as well. I don't think it will be a problem, right?"

"No," all the council members replied in unison.

After lunch, we each went to our rooms to rest. I never waste time when it comes to rest, especially when I need to prepare for important events. I decided that tomorrow morning I would announce the schedule for the days in the mountains and inform the other students about our plans.

As soon as I fell asleep, I dreamt that I was in a mountain cabin. Everything was so wonderful... The snow-capped mountains reaching up to the sky, our classmates sledding and skiing down the slippery slopes of the mountains, and Felix's naked body...

Wait... What is this? Just at that moment, I woke up in a state of extreme fear, realizing that I was actually in my room at the Academy, with Jonathan reading a book about the mountains we are about to visit.

"Maurice, is something wrong?" Jonathan asked me, visibly concerned.

"N-No... Something did happen, but it was only in my dream, not in reality. The important thing is that it only happened in my dream..."

"Alright... Anyway, Felix was looking for you, and I told him you were sleeping. He said to come to his room when you wake up..."

"That's what I'll do... Thank you for everything. Anyway, I think it's better if I leave. I don't want to keep Felix waiting for too long. You know, he's our secretary-"

"And your new boyfriend, right? Maurice, it's clear that you've changed in his presence... Believe me, I'm not as blind as you think, even though I wear glasses, okay?"

"Oh, come on... I don't think that term is the most appropriate. I think the term 'crush' or something would be more suitable, right?"

"Call it whatever you want, love-struck... Anyway, hurry or someone else might beat you to it."

As soon as I heard Jonathan's warning, I headed to Felix's room with the joy of seeing him again. It seemed that Jonathan was right...

"So, what did you do to our president?"

"N-Nothing... Anyway, I don't think we should discuss this here. I think it would be better to talk about it in the council room at the next meeting..."

I couldn't believe it when I saw a few council members arguing with Felix because of me... I can't let it end like this.

When I reached them, one of the council members attempted to hit Felix, but I couldn't allow that, so I grabbed his hand and pushed him away from Felix.

"P-President, it's not what it seems... I can explain. You see-"

"I don't care at all about your explanations, alright? If it interested me, some council members would have to leave the Academy, don't you think?"

"You can't do something like this, Maurice... It doesn't matter that your uncle is the director of the Academy or that your grandmother is Duchess Olga... My father is-"

"I know who your father is... Your father is the Duke of Lyon... Anyway, I don't think His Highness would want a war between alliances, right?"

"Are you trying to threaten the Duchy of Lyon with a war? Don't forget that-"

"Don't forget, young man, that your father was baptized by my grandmother, so my grandmother is your father's godmother, alright?"

"I-I... Why are you defending him? What did he do to make you do this?"

"It's none of your business, so if I'm not bothering you too much, I would like you to leave... Now!"

I can't believe someone is so foolish as to involve their parents in their problems. Anyway, after making sure Felix wasn't injured, I entered his room to see what he wanted to talk to me about.

"I apologize on his behalf, but he can be a little irrational when he hears things that shouldn't come from certain people... Anyway, why did you summon me?"

"Could you help me pack for tomorrow evening? You know, I'm not very good at it, and-"

"I'm glad you want my help, and I'm honored to assist you in packing... Anyway, let's see..."

It seems that Felix isn't as perfect as I thought, so I had to help him pack properly for the mountain trip. Now that I think about it, it wasn't a bad idea for him to bring different books with him, although I don't think he'll have time to read them while I'm with him. I mean, we'll have plenty of activities to do, not anything else... Anyway, it seems we finished packing for the trip, and tomorrow evening we'll leave together for the mountains... I can't wait to go and ski, or rather, to spend quality time with my classmates, especially with Felix.
