Chapter 155 - Chapter 149: Are You Going To Stop Me?

Woods...

Seeing the flaming monster has no intention of cooperating with them.

The voice of the Volturi man who tried to hold him from behind thundered through the forest, fueled by desperation and pride.

"IF YOU HURT US—ARO AND THE VOLTURI WILL RETALIATE! THEY WON'T STAND FOR THIS!"

The air grew still.

"____"

"____"

"____"

The forest seemed to hold its breath.

Then—

Ghost Rider let out a low, dark chuckle—

A sound that seemed to rumble from the depths of the underworld itself.

CHUCKLE~

"HEHEHEHE..."

In the blink of an eye, he vanished from his spot—

Just a flicker of flame.

The Volturi man barely had time to widen his eyes before Ghost Rider materialised right in front of him,

A blazing spectre of vengeance, his hollow eyes burning with hellfire.

Without a word, he grabbed the man by the throat, flames erupting from his gloved hand.

Ahhhh~

The Volturi screamed, trying to claw at Ghost Rider's arm as his pale skin blistered, blackened, and began to peel under the searing grip.

He kicked and struggled as his legs left the ground.

"G-GAHHH—AAHHHHH!!"

The others froze.

They'd never seen one of their own suffer like this—

Not even against werewolves, or rogue vampires.

This was different.

And then Ghost Rider spoke—

His voice was a thunderclap that echoed across the forest.

"I FEAR NO ONE."

"NOT YOUR ARO..."

"NOT YOUR LAWS..."

"AND CERTAINLY NOT YOUR EMPTY THREATS."

The burning hand tightened.

The Volturi man shrieked louder as smoke rose from his neck, the flames licking higher up his face.

"YOU DARED TO HUNT THE INNOCENT..."

"NOW FACE THE WRATH YOU INVOKED."

As the first Volturi was reduced to smouldering ashes,

His agonised screams fading into the hiss of hellfire devouring bone and sinew, the remaining four stood in horrified silence.

"____"

The crackling of flames was the only sound left between them.

But the one with the gift of brute strength—

Enraged beyond reason—

Let out a feral roar that shook the forest air.

"YOU MONSTER!!"

He launched himself at Ghost Rider, fist clenched, every muscle in his body bulging with fury and power.

He slammed his fist down with all his might—

WHAM!

It connected with Ghost Rider's chest, sending the flaming being skidding backwards,

Boots dragging across the forest floor, gouging burnt trenches into the earth.

The impact was heavy—

Like a wrecking ball hitting a steel furnace—

And for a moment, a flicker of smug satisfaction crossed the Volturi man's face.

But then… he felt it.

A searing heat was creeping up from his knuckles.

He looked down.

"Wh… what…?"

His fist was on fire.

Not just burning—

It was being consumed.

Hellfire.

He screamed.

"AAAAAGHHH!!"

He tried to pat it out, roll on the ground, even tear off his own sleeve—

But the flame ignored him.

It wasn't an ordinary fire.

It was judgment made manifest.

Ghost Rider, now steady, stood tall—

Unfazed—

A blackened imprint on his leather chest where the punch had landed.

He raised a single, flaming finger… and pointed at the burning man.

"STRENGTH WITHOUT PURPOSE…"

"…IS JUST A TOOL OF COWARDS."

Ahhhh~

The Volturi's screams grew louder as the flames climbed up his arm, blistering and peeling away skin, then muscle, then bone, until only a charred stump remained.

With a roar that shook the trees, Ghost Rider vanished in a blur of flames and reappeared in front of the Volturi brute whose arm had been engulfed in hellfire.

Before the vampire could even react, a flaming fist slammed into his chest—

CRACK!!

A gaping hole burst open in the center of his torso, charred edges glowing orange.

He stumbled back, eyes wide with shock and disbelief, as though his immortality had just betrayed him.

"N-No… this—can't—be…"

His voice trembled.

For the first time, true fear clouded his vampiric eyes.

Ghost Rider raised his fist again, preparing to end it with one final, divine strike—

But in that moment, the last remaining Volturi lunged from behind, locking his arms tightly around Ghost Rider, trying to restrain him.

"I GOT HIM!"

He roared, hoping to gain the upper hand.

But he had gravely underestimated what he held.

Ghost Rider's flaming skull twisted around, a horrifying 180 degrees, until his hollow, fire-filled eyes stared directly into the attacker's soul.

"FOOL."

With a low growl,

Ghost Rider slammed his fist into the chest of the first wounded Volturi, sending his body crashing into a tree, bark splintering from the impact.

As he hit,

His body erupted into a firestorm, the hellfire finally devouring him whole, leaving behind only crackling ashes.

The vampire behind Ghost Rider cursed, eyes widening in horror.

"WHAT ARE YOU?!"

Ghost Rider's skull snapped back to face forward as he reached into the air and grabbed his burning chain, coiled and ready.

With a smooth, terrifying grace, he spun it once—

And with surgical precision, lashed it behind him in a deadly arc.

FWIP!

The chain sliced clean through the vampire's neck, fire trailing behind it.

A moment later—

His head fell, rolling into the flames.

His body turned to ash before it even hit the ground.

"____"

The forest went silent, save for the flickering of dying flames and the distant whimpers of the frightened human couple waiting near Ghost Rider's bike.

Ghost Rider turned his flaming gaze toward Biffer,

Who was now casually circling the last two Volturi girls, his burning tongue lolling out like a twisted version of a happy dog.

One girl clutched her stomach, the boot imprint from Ghost Rider's earlier kick still glowing red on her charred skin.

The other, missing a hand, was sobbing uncontrollably,

Hugging her injured friend as they both stared at the towering hellhound in sheer panic.

Biffer barked once—

A deep, hellish sound—

Causing both girls to flinch and scream louder, huddling together in the dirt.

Letting out a low, gravelly chuckle, Ghost Rider approached, his footsteps leaving behind fleeting trails of flame that vanished as quickly as they came.

CHUCKLE~

"TIME TO FINISH THIS."

He raised a hand, flames spiralling upward from his knuckles.

But before he could strike—

SWOOSH—SWOOSH—

SWOOSH.

Figures appeared one by one from the darkness of the forest.

First Rosalie, then Emmett, followed by Alice, Edythe, and Carlisle, all stopping in unison as their eyes fell upon the scene of devastation.

The clearing was filled with the charred remains of Volturi soldiers.

The air reeked of burnt ash and brimstone, the flames still dancing around the edges of the forest.

Carlisle let out a deep, resigned sigh, brushing a hand through his hair as he stepped forward.

Sigh~

"We're too late…"

Rosalie's eyes narrowed as she took in the girls still alive, barely clinging to consciousness,

And then turned to Ghost Rider, still standing tall, his flaming skull flickering ominously.

Alice crossed her arms.

"Well... at least we know he doesn't bluff."

Edythe shot a glare at the crumpled bodies and then turned to her father.

"We need to handle this before the Volturi escalate."

Carlisle nodded solemnly.

Nod~

"Agreed."

Ghost Rider turned his head slowly toward them, fire crackling louder—

"IF YOU'RE HERE TO STOP ME..."

He tilted his head slightly, raising a skeletal brow ridge in mock amusement.

"...TRY."

Carlisle stepped closer to the burning clearing, his eyes sweeping over the ruins of the Volturi squad, the singed forest floor, and the two whimpering girls who had once been so proud under the Volturi banner.

The twisted scent of scorched flesh still hung in the air.

He gave a gentle sigh, then turned toward the still-blazing Ghost Rider form of Jojo and said calmly, voice tinged with dry humour,

"Only a fool would try to stand in Ghost Rider's way."

At that, Ghost Rider let out a low chuckle,

The flames around him flickered more softly as he reverted back to his human form.

CHUCKLE~

The fire faded, leaving Jojo standing there in his jacket, his hair tousled from the ride, his face wearing a sheepish smile.

"Sorry for the mess."

He mumbled.

Before anyone could speak further, Rosalie and Alice rushed up to him,

Both wrapping their arms around him in a hug.

Rosalie smirked.

Smirk~

"Couldn't wait five minutes before causing international vampire drama, huh?"

Alice giggled.

Giggle~

"That was so extra, even for you."

Jojo scratched the back of his head.

"They started it…"

Meanwhile,

Biffer was still circling the two terrified Volturi girls, one still clutching her scorched stomach and the other her missing arm, whimpering, frozen in fear.

The injured girls' eyes lit up with hope when they saw Carlisle.

One of them reached out weakly and pleaded,

"P-Please… help us…"

Carlisle, his expression calm but firm, turned toward Jojo and spoke gently,

"Jojo… you've already saved the couple."

He pointed toward the young man and woman, still huddled together by Jojo's flaming motorcycle, visibly shaken and silently clutching each other.

"They've seen justice,"

Carlisle continued.

"But… maybe these two can be spared. If they surrender, if they walk away from Aro and his ways—don't they deserve a chance to choose something better?"

The clearing grew quiet.

Even Biffer paused, tilting his flaming head to look back at Jojo.

All eyes were now on him.

"____"

Jojo stood silently for a moment, his expression unreadable as he looked at the two Volturi girls trembling before him.

The wind rustled through the trees, carrying the scent of scorched earth and fear.

Carlisle waited patiently, knowing Jojo wasn't someone who acted rashly—

not unless justice demanded it.

Jojo's eyes narrowed slightly, flames still faintly flickering in them.

He turned his gaze toward the young couple behind him—

alive, unharmed, though forever changed.

Then his eyes drifted to the two girls, one clutching her burned stomach, the other holding the stump where her arm had been.

They weren't innocent.

But they weren't monsters either—

not like the men he had just turned to ash.

Finally, Jojo let out a slow breath and nodded once.

"Fine. For Carlisle's sake… I'll let them go."

He walked past the girls and added coldly,

"But if you return to your old ways… I won't need a second chance."

The girls whimpered and nodded frantically, too afraid to even speak.

Rosalie raised an eyebrow.

"Generous Ghost Rider? Now that's a twist."

Alice grinned.

Grin~

"He's still smouldering, though."

Jojo shot them both a mock glare.

"You two aren't helping."

Carlisle gave him a grateful nod.

Nod~

"Thank you, Jojo. You did the right thing."

Biffer let out a bark, the flames around him slowly dying down as he padded toward Jojo's side.

Bark~

The terrifying hellhound now looked—

almost—

like a regular (if still skeletal) loyal companion.

With the Volturi girls limping away under Carlisle's watch and the young couple being escorted gently toward safety by Rosalie and Alice while they made a call to Freya to send Inadu to the location.

So she could cast a memory erasure spell on them.

Jojo finally felt the tension ease from his shoulders.

As Carlisle and Emmett carefully supported the injured Volturi girls, leading them through the forest trail toward the Cullen mansion, neither man spoke much.

While Edythe and Esme followed them.

The girls were silent too—

Broken, shaken, and too frightened to protest.

The fire still lingered in the air, a grim reminder of what had happened and what could have.

Meanwhile,

Jojo stood silently beside his flaming bike.

"____"

Whoosh~

With a low whoosh, the infernal fire that surrounded it dimmed and vanished, returning the motorcycle to its sleek, ordinary form—

Though it still looked as though it had been carved out of shadow and speed itself.

With a sharp whistle,

Jojo signalled.

Whistle~

From somewhere deep in the trees, a bark echoed, and then the sound of skeletal paws thudding against the ground grew louder.

Biffer—

Still smouldering slightly—

Bursting out of the undergrowth, and stopped before Jojo, tail wagging like a happy pup despite the lingering scent of brimstone.

Jojo gave the hellhound a brief nod.

Nod~

"Go home, Buddy."

Biffer gave one last excited bark, then darted off, vanishing into the dark woods, heading back toward the Cullen mansion.

Jojo swung one leg over his bike and revved the engine.

A low growl of power purred beneath him.

Then he turned the bike toward the path Rosalie and Alice had taken with the couple.

Gravel crunched beneath the tires as Jojo took off into the woods, weaving effortlessly through trees as if the forest itself parted for him.

Parking Lot...

The dimly lit parking lot, where the young couple's motorcycle stood—

Still parked awkwardly from earlier when it was shut off by one of the Volturi.

The boy was helping his girlfriend onto the bike, his freshly healed arm still stiff, but functional.

Fear hadn't fully left their faces, and all they wanted now was to get as far away from this nightmare as possible.

Just as the boy reached for the keys,

Rosalie stepped in front of the bike, her presence commanding and firm.

"Not yet,"

She said, her tone calm but unyielding.

"You can't leave just like that. There's a procedure we have to follow."

The couple looked at each other nervously.

The girl's grip on the boy tightened.

"W-We just want to go."

The boy stammered, voice shaky.

"We won't tell anyone, I swear."

Rosalie gave him a patient, reassuring look, but didn't move.

"I believe you. But this isn't about trust. It's about keeping you safe—and keeping everyone else safe. What you just saw… wasn't something the world is ready to deal with."

Behind her, Alice leaned against a nearby car, arms crossed, eyes scanning the darkness.

"He healed you..."

The girl's eyes widened.

"W-What do you mean?"

Alice stepped forward now, her tone softening.

"Wait... For some time... You will understand."

The boy's expression hardened.

"So… we're not safe yet."

"Not yet,"

Rosalie said.

"But you will be. We'll protect you. But you need to follow our lead now. Just a little longer."

Behind them, the low growl of a motorcycle engine grew louder.

Vroom~

The couple turned their heads to see Jojo riding in, his face now human again,

But still carrying the intense aura of what they'd just seen in the forest.

He brought the bike to a halt, stepped off, and nodded once at Rosalie and Alice.

Nod~

The couple's eyes widened again, but this time with something closer to awe than fear.
