One breath alone might not have been enough to wipe them out, but many breaths all at once were able to wipe out the strange creatures completely. They just weren't able to resist at all as the flames filled with holy energy swept over them, completely erasing them from this world.
When it was over, the patch of corruption energy that had been there disappeared without a trace.
