For weeks, Jirawut and Ingirid worked tirelessly on improving the camp. They cleared the surrounding forest of dead trees and branches, collected debris, and organized it by type and use. Jirawut carved several items from wood, including a wooden spoon, knife, and a cup, which he gave to Ingirid as a gift.
"You will need these tools when we start to grow crops," he explained.
"Thank you, husband."
The next morning, as they sat on the grass near the riverbank, Ingirid looked up at her husband.
"Do you think we should build a house or settle in the clearing?" she asked.
Jirawut scratched his head and took off his hat. "It's getting dark," he said. "Perhaps we should wait until tomorrow and decide then."
"Truly?" she asked.
"Yes, truly," he said.
Ingirid smiled and leaned against her husband, her arms wrapped around his neck. "What do you mean?"
